Please send any ideas you have on places to hold a 3rd birthday party. I don't want to spend more than $150 on the place seeing as we will be buying food, beverages, cake, plates and utensils, and goody bags too. Thanks!

What can I do next?

My daughter had a BLAST at her third birthday party. There were 3 girls invited and we had a pony party right here at our house. She LOVED it. I did a scavenger hunt - her 6 year old cousin read the clues and they ran from place to place looking for the next clue - it ended with a special goody bag for all. We had pony races around an obstacle course - they had to put on an article of clothing at different spots and they made a music maker out of kitchen towel tubes, rice/beans and paper. A three year old doesn't remember much - but my daughter sure did remember this birthday and so did her little friends/cousins.

Once they hit school age, we have been dumped on with Chuck E. Cheese parties, bouncy house parties and Libby Lu parties....and that is all they want to do for a few years...so avoid as long as possible I say. Save some money and some hair strands - stay small for the 3rd year.

Positively,
M.

Hi E.:
I'm not sure where you live, but many community centers will rent out their party rooms. Mountlake Terrace, for example, rents out their party room and then the kids get time in the indoor play area. I don't think it's more than $150. Last year, for my son's birthday, we went to Seattle Gymnastics Academy. I can't recall the cost however, because we split it with another family.

Imagine! Children's Museum in Everett. They have a variety of packages some of which include cake/juice/plates/etc., and their facility is very toddler (2-5 year olds) friendly. We recently became members even though we live way down in Seattle because our 2 year old has MUCH more fun there than the one in Seattle. We will probably have a birthday party for her there when she turns 3 or 4.

You can check their website for party info:

My two-year old went to a birthday party for a three-year old at Little Gym http://www.thelittlegym.com/gym/default.aspx?gymid=109 It was a lot of fun. We're in Bellevue so we went to that one but it appears they are all over. The mom of the birthday girl said it was a great deal compared to other bounce places and gymboree, etc. They were able to order in pizzas from next store (cheap pizza time) and brought some juice boxes, fruit, cake and veggies from costco. It was a great time and we were in and out in 2 hours.

I don't know the exact prices but in our area there's Chuck E. Cheese and Pump It Up, and I believe they have prices listed on their websites. My friend's daughter had a party at the bowling alley in Richmond Beach, that was fun too. I think the Lynnwood bowling alley is also a roller rink too. Have fun!

Apparently a lot of places will include basic food (pizza or something like that). The pool across the road from us will do a pizza party for 25 for about $180. I think it's $120 if you opt out of the pizza part. Try the MountLake Terrace Pool. They do a ton of parties there and the pool looks like loads of fun. Or there are places like Little Gym or Gymboree (not sure of the prices there) or whatever. There's a place called Pump it Up in Juanita, Kirkland, but that might be a bit far for you. Not sure how much, but they will provide food if you want, too. I'm sure you can find similar places in Edmonds... Have fun!
