Locks of Love

Well, it depends on how vain you are and how much you have in excess of the 10 inches you need to donate. I donated with three of my friends. I went to a good hairstylist, paid full price, and was the only one of my friends who were happy with their cuts after getting their hair chopped for donation. I think it's great that Sam's or Cost cutters cut for free, but if you don't have much hair to spare (after taking 10 inches off), you're going to want to go to someone who really knows how to style hair. If you look at the Locks for Love website, they list the salons that will cut for free...

As far as I know, any salon will do it. I know I mentioned it at Cost Cutters last time I was there and they do it. I'm growing my hair for that purpose, too. Just call a salon and ask. But I'm sure any of them will do it.

You can go to Floyd's Barbershop. They donate the hair to Locks of Love and you get the hair cut for free. There are a few downtown...one on Colfax and also one on 16th and Champa, or 11th and Broadway. You can go to www.floydsbarbershop.com to get more info......good luck

Although I dont know of a exact name of a Salon in Denver area who will cut your hair for free to donate other than Fantastic Sams, I do know it is a wonderful thing you are ready to do. My daughter suffers from the disease Alopecia Areata and hair donations are vital. I am more the Arvada unofficial ambassador so I know of salons around here that will do it and send it in but not sure if there is no cost associated. I also know that it is usually a better idea for you to send the hair in yourself then you can insure it is done in a timely manner. Some salons keep the hair in a box till it fills and then sends it however they need it more consistently. You can go to www.locksoflove.org and print your own donation form and then put your pony tailed hair in a plastic bag inside a small bubbled envelope and send it in. You can still remain anonymous on the form however if you give them your info they send you a nice card saying thanks. Hope that helps a little. I think Cost Cutters participate in Locks of Love. About the charity, I've heard that they sometimes charge for wigs they make from your donated hair. There are other similar charities that provide their wigs free of charge. I don't have any specific names to give you because I haven't had the time to do the research for myself yet. Just an FYI! What a wonderful gift you are giving someone.

Great clips does - my daughter did this last winter - it was such a neat thing. They even send it in for you..

I've done it twice, at 2 different Great Clips, and they cut your hair for free. You have to have 10 inches of hair to donate. Just let them know you're donating it to Locks of Love.
