I am new to the North Kansas City area and now that the weather is warm I am looking for nearby farmers' markets. I live up in the Gladstone area and don't mind driving a bit. I would appreciate any info you guys can give. Thanks.
Cathy

The Farmer's Market at the City Market downtown is awesome! It's held on the weekends year round. I also live in the Northland and we go several times a year. Here's a link to the website with more information - http://www.thecitymarket.org/

Hope this helps! J.

There is a local farmers market in downtown KC around the Corner market area (4th, 5th or 3rd st) between 35 and 169. It's wonderful! It's in the parking area next to the steamboat museum. Have fun.

Liberty has a farmer's market on Sat. and one day during the week. City Market is supposed to be good, but I've yet to go . Maybe this weekend. Check the local newspaper for more listings in the area. L.

There is a farmer's market 2nd and 4th (I think) saturday morning at English landing Park in Parkville, MO. It is on highway 9 just North of the MO River. I think you can get more information on www.parkvillemo.com

I too live in Gladstone. There is a nice fruit and veg market in Riverside. It's not a farmers market but, all the sell is produce. To get to Riverside from N. Oak Tfwy and Vivion just go west on vivion drive about 2 miles and turn left(south) on Gateway, the produce market is on the left. Welcome to Gladstone!

The RiverMarket just north of downtown KC has a great farmers market. Of course all the normal fruits & veggies, but local arts & crafts, usually a band playing music. There's a great place called Succatash for breakfast and all kinds of little stands grilling up food for lunch. My husband and I go all the time-- we used to take our boston terrier, but last year they made a "No Dogs" rule, just so you know.
Have Fun!!

Cathy,
there is a big one just downtown at the river market.
You may have to ask someone for directions or you could
go online for directions to the kansas city river market.
Then there is also the parkville farmers market. Parkville
is about 5-7 miles from where you are. Go up burlington which
will turn into hwy 9. I am not sure that this market is there
every weekend. It should also be online as to days and times
and maybe even directions. My best to you and welcome to the
kansas city area.

Here's a couple of places we like:

The City Market - downtown Kansas City in the river market area is where we go a lot. Here is the link to the city market (there is a lot that goes one there besides the farmers market) http://www.thecitymarket.org/

Also, you can go to the Parkville City Market in downtown Parkville along the river. Here is their info: FARMERS MARKET: In City Parking Lot Saturdays in season, from 6 a.m. to sell-out time, Wednesdays 2 p.m. to sell-out, May 13th to October. Here's Parkville's website: http://www.parkvillemo.com/

Welcome to Kansas City! We live North of the river too - about 10 blocks from Gladstone.

My husband and I really enjoy the farmers market at Smithville. It is smaller than the others and but the people there are wonderful and the veggies are so tasty. It is held in the parking lot off of 169 Highway. It is not every week and I have not seen the posting for it yet this year. I can send you message when the dates are posted, if you like. Welcome to North of "the river". I live in the Village of Oakview (famous for our strict police).

If you are in NKC, the biggest Farmer's Market is right down the street in City Market/River Market area. It is huge, cheap, fun, and very unique! I love spending my saturday mornings there throughout the spring/summer/fall months. Go to www.thecitymarket.org and it will give you all the info you need. I usually have to take a few tote bags and a backpack with me to get all my fruits and veggies back to the car. They also have some unique items: home made sausage, honey, pastas, seasonings, nuts, etc. I can spend $10-$15 and go home with enough to feed my family and share with Mom and Mother-in law or other friends. Let me know if you have any questions!

I'm sure you've already heard about the river market so I thought I'd just suggest a great website for anyone interested in 'what to do in KC' go to visitkc.com it's the tourist website but I use it to make myself a monthly calendar of all the free events in kansas city. Around the middle of the opening page is an option for a calendar of events... you can go through a whole list of events and only leave the one's you're interested in checked when your done it will make you a calendar with all your events on it. There's great info abou the river market and other farmer's markets on there. I've lived in KC almost my whole life and I still LOVE this website. It's always good to know what to do in your hometown so that you learn to love home! :) also e-mail me if ever you need help with finding things, I'm a KC fan and love helping.

There is one in Parkville on Saturdays and then a big one in River Market (just cross the boradway bridge) on Saturdays also. Liberty has one but not sure when I am thinking Wed & Saturdays. You can call the Chamber of Commerece for Parkville and Liberty and they can give you all the scoope.

Enjoy

We have been going to the city market in downtown kc and it's great. Also, you can check out kcfoodcircle.org for a list of organic farmers markets in the area. We haven't been to any of them yet but we are going to hit the brookside one this weekend. I hope this helps.

Hi and welcome to Gladstone! I live off of 169 hwy and NW 68th St., not quite Gladstone but close! Anyway Right across 169 hwy [going south to KC] is the City Market which is the same as. You have to go south on 169 hwy until you cross the river. Take the first left you can but don't get on the freeway go to the next possible left and you should run right into it. If not you'll be close enough to find it! Have fun!
