Little Sprinkler Head Broke off on Irrigation System

I am very clueless about this, no green thumbs on me, and need to know where to start. There is an underground system in the home we rent, and no manuals left behind on how to work it. I knew enough to set it to AUTO, but yesterday a cat broke off one of the tiny little sprinkler heads and water sprayed hard, so I had to shut the whole system down. Does anyone know if this is a simple repair I can handle? Are there little replacement bits at a major garden center? Or am I better off talking to the landlord-paid gardener? I'm worried that you can't just swap out the sprinkler head and whole tubing will have to be swapped out, and then i'd definitely be in over my head.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Just tell the Landlord.

Or try to find the sprinkler head that popped off.
Its probably in your yard somewhere.

But I would call the Landlord, because if you try to fix it and don't know how, the Landlord may not like that.

There are many types of sprinklers/sprinkler heads.
And parts.

I would just tell the landlord. Then go from there. What would you do if your a/c broke? Same thing. Call the landlord.

Usually, a sprinkler head isn't a big deal to repair. I personally have never done it. We had one break (well actually, it got dirt or something in it so it didn't go back down fully, and then hubby ran over the top with the lawn mower, lol). Anyway, the guy who installed our sprinkler system, and has done other subsequent landscaping for us, was scheduled to be out in our neighborhood doing something else, so I just called and asked if when he was out here, he could stop over and repair it. He sent over one of his guys and fixed it. No biggie.
Not even big enough for him to send me a bill for it. :)
Seriously, the parts for something like that probably cost about $5.

If it is just the head broken putting a replacment is not a big deal. They screw on and off. See if it wants to screw off easily then take it to homedepot and match it up . If it doesnt want to move I'd hve the landlord do it so you don't break it off lol Go on Utube and type in how to change a sprinkler head. Watch the video pretty easy to do.

You can totally do this yourself unless the pvc pipe is broken. (I always need help with broken pipes.) If it's just a broken head, you can unscrew the whole head and bring it in to a hardware store to find a replacement. Like was said before they are about five bucks. I replace like three a year because of the neighbor kids running all over my lawn during the summer and cracking the heads.

If you want a visual just look up "replacing a sprinkler head" on youtube for a visual. People have how to's on EVERYTHING on youtube. I watched a vid on how to take my laptop keyboard up so I could clean under it. It's free information but oh-so-priceless.
