Litter Box Training

i usually just put the kitten in the box make sure it is a small box if you are trying to train in a big box your kitten may just be to intimidated maybe just put litter on a training pad that away there are no walls. you know just a llittle fact in case you didnt know kittens dont go on there own until they get older if the momma was still feeding then u should continue with goats milk and you will also have to stimulate the kittens area by rubbing it and it will go potty it may just be to young to go on its own. i hope this helps much luck with your kitten

I had this problem w/my cat. She was found as a stray at three weeks old with no mama and I did have some problems litter training her so I feel your pain. I found that using a box lid instead of a big litter pan helped because it was easier to her to get in and out of. I also had several litter boxes around because she had a hard time making it to the box on time. When we were not home I confined her to the bathroom and I also did that at night because she was peeing in my bed! How old is kitty btw?

Just make sure you do not put her litter box anywhere near her food. They do not like that! It will cause problems with proper training...or so I've heard.

Here's how we've done it. Put the kitten in the bathroom (if you have a spare one that's the best place) and keep her in there with food, water and a little litter box. Also maybe a little cage to sleep in with blanket in it and a stuffed animal. That way she's confined so the accidents will only be there, and it makes it easier for her to get to the box. You might want to sit in there with her after she eats (that's when they usually have to go) and if she tries to go anywhere else, put her in the box. They usually get it after a bit. It's instinct for them to dig and then go potty and cover it up. So she should figure it out.

Um just pointing out that mother cats do not train their kittens to use a litter box. People do.

Try keeping the kittens confined to a small area (bathrooms work great) with access to food, water, and litter box. It may help to actually place the kitten in the box with a poop and help him use his paw to bury it. Don't let the kittens out unsupervised until they are consitantly using the box, or you will encourage them to use the carpet, etc. Good luck!

We found a kitten years ago that was extremely young. I keep her in the bathroom for a few days, frequenty placing her in the box (it does have to be a small container for little kittens). They have a natural instinct to cover so I'm not sure there is much too it. I don't if what we did was correct but the kitten caught on. We did not have problems until she was in heat - a different issue but one you will want to plan for.
If she has marked the carpet you will need to completely remove the smell. Many things just mask it. I think using baking soda, peroxide, rubbing alcohol works. I do not know that exact application but you can look online. I had an old cat with kidney problems that had several accident. I used a solution that I found at a pet store, called Nature's Miricle to remove the urine. it worked great. I haven't had any problems with the new cat marking over the accidents.
Another thing to try for the litter box is pine litter. It gets rid of the urine smell.
