I love the look of these enameled cast iron pots. They are on the pricey side but I'm thinking about purchasing one.

Why do you love your Le Creuset? Was it worth the price? What size would you recommend for typical meals made for a family of 4? And JFF, what is your favorite color? (I'm lovin' the caribbean blue).

I have two. One HUGE and one's pretty small. I use at least one of them every single day. I splurged a couple years ago and don't even remember how I survived without them all that time. Yeah they were pricey, about $400 for both, but I will be passing them down with pride to my kids someday. Plus they look gorgeous on the open shelf in the kitchen!

I have about 10 (inherited some, gifts others) of varying size/design. I love and use most my really large one (6 or 7 quart? "28" on the bottom). I can double recipes no problem. If you can afford it, go bigger, you'll get more use from it. I like my sunny yellow but have white, green and red too. Family of 4. I do like it, better than another non-LC one I have that doesn't have a plastic knob but a metal knob (ow!). I have Calphalon pans and pots, but I use the pots mainly for heating water and some soup, and use the LC more. It just looks pretty!

Hi R.-

I LOVE my 'lodge' 6 quart 'dutch'...It is blue (my favorite kitchen colour LONG before it became popular).

It may not withstand 'generations' of use...but I can/will be able to add more pieces without the guilt that le creuset would cause me...lol

Now...it happens I have a birthday coming up...if anyone should ask???

Best Luck...if $$ were no object...yes...I say go for it! But lodge is a nice/cheaper alternative!
