Laser Hair Removal for Bikini Area

Has anyone had a successful laser hair removal experience in the bikini area? If so, where? I've had friends try laser hair removal and none of them have had positive experiences. I am tired of shaving and wasting money on waxing. I've tried Coochy Rash Free cream for shaving - nothing great. I'm tired of having stubble after 1/2 a day and chicken skin! Waxing isn't bad but it is too much upkeep. The less 'maintenance' the better!

I have also had really good results. I have done bikini, underarm, and lower leg. True, I do still have to go in once a year or so for touch-ups, but it is so worth it.

I wouldn't say the bikini area is horribly painful, just a little "ouchy," but my aesthetician ALWAYS uses the numbing cream. I can't imagine doing it without numbing cream (especially in the "back door" area, if you know what I mean!).

I absolutely LOVE the woman who takes care of me. Her name is Traci Rupe and she works at Dr. Stuart Lipton's office in Lewisville. The number is ###-###-####. She is a fabulous person as well as great as what she does.

I agree with what everyone said. I get my underarms and bikini done and I will get my legs done closer to the winter. One thing that I haven't seen mentioned is that it takes about two weeks for the hair follicles to fall out after you get the laser done.

Congratulations on your decision!! It is AMAZING!! I had it done 5 years ago and it is fabulous! Be sure you go somewhere who has an actual heat laser (not an IPL-Intense Pulse Light which only stunts the hair growth for a few months). Not all lasers are created equally, which is why you hear so many varied stories about success. Ideal Image uses Candella lasers (top of the line heat laser), includes 5 treatments and 4 touch-ups, plus a lifetime membership, and they only hire Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners to do all their treatments. They are very honest about whether you are a good candidate (ie currently NO laser can treat blonde, grey or red hair, not matter what other companies may try to sell you) because they guarentee their work and don't want you to come back in a year unhappy! This month is guest appreciation month and the are offereing 30%off everything (huge discount) and they have 5 locations across the metroplex. Call them- you won't regret it!!

I've used laser hair removal for my lip/chin, underarms and bikini area. I LOVE IT!!! (and so does my hubby :)) I always had problems with my bikini area. Shaving left bumps and hair removers left a huge rash. Waxing was OK, but expensive and I hated the growing out stage!!

The process itself is a little painful. My spa will give you a prescription for a topical antiseptic (SP?) which really helps. The couple of days after it feels like a sunburn, but not all that bad.

I use the Body Essentials Medical Spa in Plano. It is run by a ob/gyn group that has their office nearby. In fact, a doctor will come and look at you your first visit just to make sure that you are a good candidate!! Their number is ###-###-####. They are having a special of 20% off your first treatment of a new area right now if you are interested.

Good luck!!

I haven't done laser hair removal because everyone I know hasn't had good experiences either. And guess what - its not permanent either. My girlfriends swear by electrolosis.

Okay, sorry that I am responding so late. I used elite Med Spa located in Frisco at the shopping center on Legacy and Lebannon. The staff is great there. They are under the supervision of an internal med doctor who started doing med spa services to have better hours. I have been very happy with their results. So much so that my mom and sister have also gone to get treatments from them. Their number is ###-###-####. Touch-ups are free for life, so you don't have to worry about paying extra for them.

HI. I have been going to Allen Aesthetics for underarm and bikini laser hair removal. I have gone through 4 of the 8 sessions (you have to wait 4-6 weeks in between sessions for the hair cycle to change and they require 8 sessions at Allen Aesthetics). Honestly it hurts a bit, and the area is pretty raw and red for a few days following treatment but it seems like it is well worth it. Since starting the process, i haven't had to shave the areas at all until the new growth begins about 4 weeks after. The only negative that i have experienced so far is laser bruising in the bikini area - it is slightly bruised and remains bruised until the next session so i am just hoping that it clears up when the process is all done. Hope this helps - be happy t answer any other questions. K.

I did full leg, bikini (and then some) along with underarm, upper lip and chin and it was the best money I EVER spent. I am light skinned with dark hair, shaving and plucking were part of my daily routine... uuuugggh

I will say that I went for 4 treatments for my upper lip and should go for 1 more. My chin hair disappeared. While I only got 3 treatments for my legs & underarms, I think that 2 more treatments would completely get rid of all of the hair. I was even told my the technician that I was very hairy so that a couple more treatments would probably get rid of all of it.

With all that being said, and still needing 2 maybe 3 treatments, I could go a month without shaving. I went to Renaissance and am very satisfied with the results. I will say that if you have ANY treatment south of the border, ask that they give you some topical numbing cream. The PAIN is worse than waxing. It was after the 2nd treatment that I asked if there was something available to ease the pain and they prescribed an ointment. What a difference.

I'm just waiting to save up 'disposable cash' to get the rest done.

smoothsolutions.net it worked for me.
It takes 5 sessions, 6th one is free if you need it. I think you have to wait like 4 or 6 weeks between sessions. I also did my underarms, love it! They do have specials every month so you can look online or call. They only have bikini specials twice a year Dec and May i think.

I have not experienced the laser but one of my best friends have. Not only has she done the treatments she works for a doctors office that does the treatments. She had me feel her legs and she said that it had been 2 months since she last shaved. I was very shocked, it was like she had just shaved. I envy her, I want mine done!!! The doctor is in Weatherford and his name is Dr. David L. Reeve. He is our family doctor as well and is wonderful! He is great with my kids! My husband doesn't like doctors but he does like him!

I have had success and haven't shaved for about 4 years. It's been great!!!!! I used to shave every day and then would get a rash. It was so uncomfortable. If you want to be successful, you need to go about 4/5 times. My gyno has a medical spa in her office. Their number is ###-###-####. They are located in the Plano Medical Hospital, 15th & Coit. It's not the most comfortable thing I ever did. However, it's better than waxing.

Please do not waste your money, Marika. You already have friends for whom it did not work. I wasted close to $1000 5 years ago having it done on my bikini and underarms and guess what? I'm shaving. There is SO much that they don't tell you...mainly that hair follicles (sp?) can actually regenerate after years of being dormant! After the treatments it looks like it is working but it DOES NOT and it is not permanant! And I am supposedly the best kind of candidate--light skin with dark hair. My friend Michelle had it done last year and wasted her money too--and now she says she wished she had listened to me. And at this place they said the laser had been improved. You say you are tired of wasting money on waxing but you will waste even more money on this!

If you do decide to have it done and go to a place where they say they have a "guarentee," get that in WRITING and have them specify under what conditions--for examples, how many treatments you have to have and how long (like over a year). My friend went to a place in Denton where it was "guarenteed" but she had to jump through hoops, had PHOTOGRAPHS taken of her you-know-what, and threaten them with legal action before they gave her the refund.

I have not had my bikini area done yet but I have had lhr on my legs and I love it. I used to have to shave 2 a day and every time I got a chill there would go my smooth skin. Not anymore I love it. After summmer I will be going back for the underarms and bikini area. I recommend rejuve med spa they do not charge for touch ups if needed.

You have to go to Smooth Solutions for your laser hair removal. They are by far the cheapest laser hair removal place out there, and they are very good at what they do. I have been there many times and have had very successful treatments. I had my bikini area done at a place in Florida, but when I moved here, I still needed touch ups, and Smooth Solutions was great. I also got my underarms done at Smooth Solutions, and almost all of the hair is gone. I need to go there soon to have one more touch up on my underarms, and then I'll probably be good for at least a year (I might need one or maybe two touch ups a year, and that's it)! I hardly have any hair there as it is! As far as your bikini area (or any area), the results are great, however, it HURTS A LOT. The only way it is bearable is by using numbing cream. At Smooth Solutions, they insist on applying the numbing cream for you (the place I went to in Florida allowed me to apply it on my own before I got to the office), but Smooth Solutions says it can be very dangerous if it's on the skin for too long, so they do it. They keep it on for 45 minutes, then wipe it off and begin your treatment. They also have ice gel (they don't advertise it - I don't know why - you have to ask for it) they can apply to the area after they wipe off the numbing cream. It is super cold, of course, but it does help the pain a little more. I have never done this, but maybe you can take a couple Motrin, Advil or Tylenol a half hour or so before your treatment? Ask! I never thought of that until right now. The pain is horrible, but it is well worth it in the end. And, the more times you go, the pain gets a bit more tolerable. Don't expose your bikini area to the sun - your treatment won't work (they will tell you this). Also, don't use tweezers. You can shave or wax in between treatments, but no plucking! Smooth Solutions has two locations (or maybe more, but I know of 2): Lewisville and Plano. They have monthly specials, so don't forget to ask about them. One more thing - Smooth Solutions will not treat you if you are pregnant. I learned that the hard way. Even with my O.B.'s written permission, they still wouldn't treat me. A lot of places will with a doctor's note, but they won't. Good luck!

I did my bikini and arm pits at Accent of You in Arlington~ (Dr. Nakamura) they have a whole spa side. I have a lot of blond hair that didn't respond, but otherwise it was fabulous. A bit painful, but short pain - be sure to ask for them to prescribe some lidocain to apply beforehand!

I go to Perfect Touch Spa, I have had 5 treatments on 3 areas (including the bikini area) and LOVE the results! I purchased SpaFinder cards at Costco, you can get $100.00 worth of cards for $79.99. In my case, I saved almost $500.00!

1 thing, it will not remove blonde or grey hair as the laser can not find the follicle. And… that area is a bit painful, not unbearable but the laser gets hot.

Good Luck!
E.

hi. A friend of mine had laser hair removal done, I think it took her 2-3 treatments, but she said she's as smooth as a baby now. I simply shave in the shower using only a mach 3 razor and soap, and of course I use lotion after showering all over my body. I have no trouble with razor burn or 'chicken skin', but am also tired of the inconvenience because the stubble is back so quickly. I'm seriously considering the laser hair removal, and it's really not that expensive! I had inquired about hair on my arm, but they said since it was blonde the laser hair removal wouldn't work, so you have to have dark hair! lol :-)

A really good friend of mine had hers done about 5 years ago and she has had great success. SHe loves not having to shave...she just went back in recently for a "touch up" but it is the first time in over two years. It was expensive but worth it and so now I am waiting until I am done breastfeeding baby #3 and then I plan on taking care of me and doing it also! Good luck - research before you take the plunge!
