Have you ever bought one? How did it hold up? How long did it last? How old are your kids, or the person who used it? I saw in a catalog that they have ones for young kids, all the way up to college. I suppose it is for durability for the big books and all. I was considering buying them for my kids this year, a high schooler and middle schooler, but wanted to know what you thought of them. I did buy Swiss Gear in the past and the last one lasted about 3 years but I liked the different colors and patterns that Lands End offers.
We love their backbacks!!There are soooo many options for personalizing. My kids are now 11,8,5 and they have been using their backpacks for a couple years. Can't say enough good things about Land's End. From backpacks to swimsuits..they are good quality and have great customer service.
Happy backpack shopping!!

LL Bean backpacks.
It is AWESOME!
AND it is warrantied for life and if at any time you need to return it, they give you another one, for free. So keep the invoice and receipt.
I order it online from them.
My Daughter has had her wheelie back pack from them, since 1st grade and is now going to 4th Grade.
It still looks new.
It is the same backpack.
NO problems with it. And she is not gentle with it.
And you can get it monogrammed.
It is well worth the price.
I now got one for my son who will be entering Kindergarten.
I know, it will last for years.

My kids (6 and 10) have used the same LE backpacks and lunchbags for three years. We've used them on vacation as well (England, Disney). They last beautifully! Love, love, Lands End! My kids wear their uniforms and I buy their bathing suits. Nothing to complain about.

My son got a LL Bean backpack when he was born...as a gift from a friend. They had his initials put on it. He is going into 2nd grade next year and the backpack is still going strong! We really have no need to buy a new one. Lands End and LL Bean are supposed to be pretty much the same thing.

Yep, lands ends backpacks last for years! I wash the backpacks and the lunch boxes in my frontload washer. Their uniforms are great also, they don't fade.

I've bought a few Lands' End backpacks and they've worn very, very well. The zippers still work and they wash decently. Never a problem -- except that my little ones (for whom I bought the originals) became big ones and their books and stuff no longer fit.
There are a number of quality packs. Have fun finding one that works for you!

My kids have Land's End backpacks because whatever it was that we bought in previous years didn't hold up well. I bought them in Aug. last year @ Sears, and got a really good deal. They still look brand new.

We have multiple LLBean, I still have one I used in law school (I graduated 11 years ago) and my kids each have ones that are 5 years old and all are still in great, like new, shape. I highly recommend them.

I bought my daughter a LE back back when she was in elementary school and I am still using it. Has held up for over 15 years. I would rather spend more money on a back pack that would last several years than one that wouldn't make it through the school year.

I read an article yesterday about backpacks, and Lands End was on their list of recommended brands to buy, to save money in the long run. So were REI, and LL Bean, as they all have lifetime warranties on their backpacks. Looks like from the comments below, Jansport also has a lifetime warranty. I know for me, personally, I'm going to research which of the brands is cheapest to buy, and what the stipulations are in the warranties before I pick which to go with for my 3 kids.

I bought a lands end for my son years ago. It only lasted a year. Now Northface, I bought one for college a few years ago, used it three years carrying four classes of books at a time. Yeah I looked like skier when I walked, I digress. My son has used it the two years since I graduated. Still looks like the day I bought it.

Did you know that Jansport has a lifetime guarantee? The zipper on mine broke 5 years after I bought it and I mailed it in and they sent me a whole new one!! I only buy Jansport now.

I havn't had a Lands End one, but this year when we were looking, I looked at them and found that they are PVC free, which is something that was very important to me. We've got an LLBean one that has lasted forever, but no word on the PVC. When my daughter out grows hers, it will be Lands End for us!

This is exactly what I was wondering...
I actually really liked the look of the LLBean Rolling Deluxe Backpack - yet I read about some other backpacks that used chemicals that could cause cancer. I asked LLBean if there backpacks have these chemicals - my guess is yes, How could they NOT know !! read what I wrote and she wrote:
My email to LLBean:
I have been searching for a rolling backpack for my kids, and need to find out 100% if this is or is not the case -- on some other sites for similar type backpacks there is also a warning about the chemicals used in the backpack, cancer causing - can you tell me the situation regarding this one:
LLBean, Rolling bookpack Deluxe $ 89.95 Item: TA228986
On other sites this is what it said:
California Proposition 65
California's Proposition 65 entitles California consumers to special warnings for products that contain chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm if those products expose consumers to such chemicals above certain threshold levels.
The general Proposition 65 notice is as follows:

Due to this I will NOT be going with LLBean, as if they don't even know, my guess is that she doesn't want to tell me it does have carcinogenic properties.
Does anyone know if the Lands End backpack does not have Any carcinogenic elements ? I would like to know. I was trying to find a rolling backpack for my kids because the loads they have had to carry are Ridiculous and will injure their backs if they keep carrying on their back - does anyone know of a great, sturdy, large rolling backpack that doesn't have these carcinogens ?
