I'd recommend Shaklee's Basic H2. It is one of Oprah's Favorites! It is green, nontoxic, SUPER-concentrated (YOU add the water to a few drops in a spray bottle), and therefore economical.

Please help! I have a new house and the kitchen has a laminate wood floor. Does anyone have any suggestions to clean it?? I looked on line and it said a vinegar/water solution...it still looks super streaky and dirty, plus, with three young kids, I would like to use something that I feel is actually getting the grime off:) HELP

I use Mr. Clean and make sure to mop in the direction of the wood grain. Then any streaks that might be there blend right in! I use a newer sponge mop (Quickie brand) and then it doesn't seem to absorb as much water, so it leaves less on the floor that way. By the time I'm done mopping (we have the wood looking laminate in the bathroom, laundry, kitchen and great room), the room I started in is dry enough to get to the sink to dump the mop water!
ammonia and Mr.Clean floor cleaner. I sometimes just use the ammonia. I have the same kind of floors plus kids and dogs. The ammonia helps it dry faster so you don't have the streaks and footprints.
I had laminate wood floors for years (and kids and pets) and only used a little water to clean them, after vacuming or sweeping. But here are some other ideas:
I have a Swiffer wet jet that I use on my laminate floor and it works great! They actually make a solution specifically for hardwood and laminate.
Bona is awesome!! We use it on hardwood floors so it's got to be okay for laminate. Check it out, it's just and spray and mop. Good luck, I think you can get it at Sears.
I use Zep laminate floor cleaner. You can get it Home Depot.
Hi there!
I use vinegar and water too. I tried the murphys oil and some of the other cleaners and there was just so much build up that held dirt. So I asked my realtor when I got our new house and he and many other people suggested vinegar and water. I do it by had so their isn't a lot of standing water, but you could use a mop and dry it with the towels too. Then throughout the week I swiffer it to keep the dust off.
Hope this helps :)
We had laminate floors in our old place. Pergo makes a cleaner and mop specifically for their floors and it worked amazingly. It's a spray bottle and a dust mop, so you just spray as you go, and let the solution sit for a minute or two in the really grimy areas. It worked on everything and was really fast to get done. I wish I had something so great for my wood floors here! I think you can find the cleaner at Home Depot or wherever they sell Pergo.
I find that using vinegar/water with mop and then drying the floor with a towel gets the laminate floor clean and streak free. Of course, if you have a lot of floor to clean at once, that might not be so feasible. Good luck.
I use a steam cleaner on mine and love it. I have a Eureka, but I know there are even better ones out there... as mine does not get into corners very well, so I end up just using a hot wet washcloth in the corners. I just use my regular vacuum on the bare floor setting to get the dirt off, then go over it with the steam cleaner. I like that I don't have chemicals on my floor with my kids running around on it all day. I think it cleans great and leaves no streaks. I have hard water, so I use distilled water in the cleaner. I also have a laminate floor cleaner made by Orange Glo that I use for spot cleaning if I don't have time to get out the steam cleaner. It works ok, but I would not use it on the entire floor. I have tried a swiffer, but found the cloths would get caught on the corners of some of the floor sections and leave tuffs of the cloth all over.
You can clean it with any of your favorite cleaners. The only thing I have found that does not leave it full of streaks is the "Orange Base" cleaner. Like "Simply Orange". I clean the floor and then after it has dried I go over it with a a swiffer (dry) sprayed with the orange cleaner. It dries streak-free and beautiful that way.
