Has anyone delivered at Palos Community Hospital? If so - how was the experience? I am trying to decide which hospital to deliver at. Does anyone know if they allow visitors to be present with the baby in the room or does it have to stay in the nursey? Any info would be helpful!
Thank you

A couple of my girlfriends delivered there years ago, they really liked it and I believe the baby was allowed in the room with visitors but they only allow so many visitors at one time. Grandparents are allowed to visit any time and are not counted toward total visitor count.

I did not deliver there, so can't give any information from that perspective. But I used to work there, so I know they do allow visitors in the room with the baby, except non-sibling children under 12. This is a change they made a year or so ago, it used to be very limited visiting hours and the baby in the nursery during that time, but that is no longer the case. They also now staff an OB on the unit at night so there is someone immediately available in the event of an emergency and no possibility of needing to wait for your doctor to come in if you want an epidural during the night. I would recommend you ask about a tour of any hospital you are considering, that gives you a chance to ask all sorts of questions and get a general feel for each place. Good Luck on your upcoming birth.

I delivered both my kids there, although it has been a few years, my youngest is 7 1/2! I had my mom & sister as well as my husband in the room for my first, and for both, was able to have plenty of visitors, with baby in the room! I have to say, the OB on staff during the night would have been nice when I delivered my youngest! I had to wait for my Dr. & barely made it...as soon as they finished the epidural, I started pushing & delivered within minutes!
All the best to you!
