Hi Mommas!

I am sending my little one (3 yrs old) to school for the first time and EVERYTHING has to be labeled. Do you have any cool suggestions or neat products for doing this with out having to resort to masking tape and a sharpie?

Thanks in advance!

I found "labeldaddy.com" labels in all sizes, even for shoes. they are washable and price is reasonable. My order came in this week and they are very nice.

I used the self service machine @ Walmart (also @ Petco & Petsmart) and made cute dog tags - one a heart, and the other with an enamel back - pink & black argyle pattern - engraved my daughter's name and my phone number on them. I then used the rings that come with them- to make them in to zipper pulls on her backpack and lunch box. Works like a charm - they are cute - indestructible, and not so obvious that a stranger could call out her name. Good luck!

Jo-Ann Fabrics carries these cute fabric tags. If you know somebody with an embroidering machine, they could put the name right on there. Or you can pay to get it done. I can't imagine it costing too much for such small tags.

I assume you mean you need to label her supplies, like a pencil case for example? So if that is the case, how about getting colorful or glittery letter stickers so you can label everything while having it look pretty?

My issue with sharpie is it does fade and run and then the information is unreadable, so I get where you are coming from. A good option, but you will be reapplying to cups, clothes, shoes, etc.
I finally had it with the sharpie and got my boys Mabel's Labels. They actually have combo packs and these really neat "taggies" for inside of clothes.
Your kiddo also gets the chance to select a little design if they want and their shoe tags are worth every cent. We have used them on boots, water shoes, creek walking shoes, tennis shoes flip flops - all still there and unmoved.
Congratulations on school!

You can look into printing out labels from your computer for non washable items and I saw somewhere online where you can order iron-on labels for washable items.

I like Mabel's Labels and Orbit Labels for cups (if you need them). The Orbit Labels were great for me when my daughter was a baby and I needed to label her cups for daycare. I used Mabel's Labels on her bowls of food when she started eating food. But they have clothing and shoe labels that are really cute too.

For clothing labels, I just used http://www.irononmdlabels.com/. It's very inexpensive.

You could use colorful labels that are for Christmas or birthday presents.

Write your child's name with a Sharpie on the INSIDE of all the items: backpack, shirts, etc. That way strangers won't know his/her name. No expensive, cool gadgets or labels necessary.

I used a laundry marker to mark all of my girls things. That way it can not be removed. Masking tape can be peeled off. My Mom is the one that told me to use the laundry marker. I even think they are available in other colors other than black now. Not sure though becuase it's been years since I had to label things.

Thin sharpie, just write it out on everything. . Also I purchased a fabric pen when our daughter went to camp.. The sheets still have her name on them..
