Hi, I have two boys who will be 1 & 3 this summer. I am looking for a fun place where I can have their birthdays, primarily for the 3 yr old. I am in Lee's Summit and am wanting something in the KC area. I have looked at the Zoo-(love but too $$$$$), Paradise Park and Tunnel Voyage but am really wanting some other suggestions.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We decided to have a water play birthday in our backyard. Most of our friends have 2/3yr olds and then a baby so we had to have a place for the babies to keep cool. Maybe next year we will head out somewhere. But it will be awesome. Thanks for all the advice given. Lots of cool places to have birthdays and great ideas.

I saw this post and couldn't help but respond. I own the Gymboree Play and Music in Lee's Summit and we do birthday parties. We specialize in activities for children ages six and under. We have plenty of activities that would also accomodate your one year old! If you haven't checked us out, I'd love to give you information. We are inside, so you don't have to worry about the weather, our rates are very competetive, and we set up, clean up, and lead all the activities for you. Our number is 525 - PLAY (7529). We give a discount to our members as well - if you ever considered taking classes with us. :)

the Deanna Rose petting zoo is a great place. It is free to get in unless you want the guided tours or want to purchase pony rides, wagon rides, fishing, etc. You could buy each kid a 5.00 card and they can choose the hay ride, pony ride, feed a goat a bottle etc with the card. They also have birthday packages and you can check out those prices as well. Each of the extra price events range from 1.00-3.00 each. Take plenty of quarters to feed the goats.

the zoo is located in Olathe off of 135th street and switzer. It has a big playground and park area across the parking lot as well as some nice playgrounds in the zoo. It is a wonderful place for little kids as it isn't real big and they can walk the whole thing without getting too tired.

We haven't had the chance to go yet this year so the prices may have changed a little but it is a great place and my kids are 15, 13, and 8 and we still enjoy going there as a family outing. It's a nice place to go to walk.

we have done my son's birthday parties at zonkers in olathe in the great mall. he is 3 and we have his 2nd and 3rd there...they do all the work...we just show up! we have been to parties at dave's gymnastics in lee's summit and extreme gymnastics in lee's summit that were both super fun! and like the other mother's have said...deanna rose farm is awesome as well. they have playgrounds, petting zoo and all sorts of fun stuff to do. also wonderscope in shawnee is fun...never had a birthday party there, but i know they do them. another party we went to for a 3 year old was at landmark skating center in lee's summit. with a birthday party you get the whole place to yourself for 2 hours and you can bring bikes, or any riding toy out on the rink...obviously at that age the kids can't usually skate. it was pretty fun seeing the little kids on all their scooters, tricycles, bikes, motorized cars...all sorts! well, i hope this helps give you an idea!! good luck and have fun!!!! :)

Deanna Rose Farmstead! It's an OP city park, so it's cheap for parties, and the kids love it. It's at 135th & Switzer. I just looked up their party package, and it says: "A $90 package includes 2.5 hours in a reserved party corral, a Farmstead t-shirt and souvenir cowpoke hat for the birthday child, and 14 tickets to use for wagon rides, fishing, mining, or pony rides." Just so you know, horse-drawn wagon and pony rides run $3 each, mining is $4-6, depending on the size of the bag you buy, and fishing is $3 for a bucket of worms and a cane pole. Kids have to be 3 yo to ride the ponies, so the little one would not be able to ride.

Of course, if you don't have a huge party, the park also offers combo packs of tickets for $10, which includes a ticket for each: pony ride, wagon ride, bottle to feed the little goats, fishing, and mining. We just did that with my son and nephews, and they had a BLAST.

Hope this helps.

Great American Gymnastic Express, in blue springs. They have parties for an hr and a half. The kids play in the gym for an hour, then cake and presents for the half.

In the gym we have three in ground tramps, an in ground long tramp, three kid swing, 20 foot slide (three side by side, like at a carnival)foam pit, trapeze, and staff that LIKE to play with kids.

$144.25, that's with tax. You can bring your own cake, and refreshments, or the gym provides them.

My son will be two in June and we are taking a FREE tour of the fire station in Mission. I would think you could find a station out there that would do the same. We'll take the little tour and then come back to our house for a simple lunch and a fire truck cake. There is nothing my boy loves more than fire trucks :) Perhaps yours are the same!

How about Super Splash? They have a special area just for little kids.
Also, just my opinion, but with really young kids like yours, I have found that they really don't appreciate the big spectacular parties yet and having a few friends & family members over for cake an ice cream is usually enough excitement for them! Plus you can save the $$ you would spend for later when they can really enjoy it!
Just my 2 cents! Happy Birthday to your little munchkins!
