A friend of mine did IKEA about 5 yrs ago. Her husband was totally against it but since he does not cook and barely goes into the kitchen, she won. It still looks great and she loves her kitchen. It is something I am considering if we ever get ours done.

My niece just did her kitchen with new everything. Cabinets were IKEA and everything else was Lowes. Your best bet is to go around and look at everything a couple times to see what sticks out. And if you plan to sell in the very near future poke around on the web to see what kitchens people are currently putting in.

Any home supply store like Lowes, Home Depot, and others. They are just fine.

Hi D.! We are in the middle of a total kitchen gut and redo. We are doing it ourselves. Yikes! Love my cabinets. They are Kraftmade from Home Depot. Our consultant, Joy, was fantastic. She worked with us on the design (which we changed at least 4 times!) and never lost her cool with us. So, I would start at Home Depot. They also have a project loan you can get and the interest rate is fantastic (at least for us).

Good luck! I haven't had a functioning kitchen for almost two months! I have about had it! =) BUT I know it will be totally worth it!!

It certainly depends on your budget and size of kitchen.

Our kitchen cabinets are solid wood and not pressed wood. So, they were more expensive.

IKEA is reasonable. My dream kitchen is a French country one from Clive Christian....a look alike kitchen.

My suggestion would be --Get a timeless color.

Depends on your budget. IKEA does awesome kitchens at an incredibly good price. If budget not an issue, a cabinet maker where you live. Just get references.

Another Ikea fan here. I redid my kitchen a year ago, love it. I replaced all the lower cabinets with drawers - so much easier to reach everything and they hold a ton more than the old cabinets did! Only tip with Ikea is to make sure you know what sizes they have and double check what the estimator uses. Ours used a smaller size than I wanted and I didn't realize it till they were installing. I could have had a couple larger drawers in a couple places if I had been more cognizant of my options.
