Hi there,

I'm just curious what your 7/8 month old is up to?? Our little one spends much of her day smiling and breaking in to spontaneous laughter. She sits up well but we still can't leave her on a playmat as she tends to topple over (or forward) after a while, particularly when reaching for a toy. She's not crawling yet. She isn't showing any signs of teething yet, and is a little peanut, weighing about 16 lbs at 7.5 months. She is on some solids but is still mostly breastfed. She still wakes up during the night, either for comfort or for feedings (we're never quite sure which one). She starts falling apart around 6 and is usually asleep by 7 on most nights...and wakes up around 6'ish. She is babbling lots and lots...dadadadad and nananana. She takes about two naps a day (on rare occasion, 3) and we still sometimes notice she wakes up mid-nap, wanting to nurse or for comfort----a bit annoying. We are really enjoying her, especially since her personality is really unfolding. We can't believe in just a few months she'll be walking and talking!

What can I do next?

My son is 6 1/2 months old but I thought I'd share!!

My son is eating solids and also mostly breastfed. I've given him a little bit of juice and he really likes it!! I have also given him a sippie cup but he mostly just dribbles it out.

He still wakes up a few times a night - no matter whether he's in our bed or not - to feed or just be cuddled. He is taking his binky a lot more than he did at first.

He's babbling all the time - I keep trying to get him to say dada or mama but mostly he'll just smile at us.

He still topples over if he's stting up but will mostly just move onto his belly.

He is moving backwards sometimes too.

Hey! I have an 8 month old girl as well and she is so much fun too! She is 'crawling' kind of... she army/inch worm crawls and then will stop and get on her knees for a second then go back to her tummy and keep going. She every once in a while will go in her jumpy toy, but is pretty much over it. Grace eats three 'meals'(half/a full jar of food) a day and some snacks. She sleeps through the night most of the time, but will wake about 4:30 for a bottle then go back to sleep for a while. She says Mama and dada and buba as well. Glad you are enjoying her she will just get more fun.

My youngest is now 20 months , your little one sounds like she is doing everything that she should be. Enjoy these moments , before you know it she will be off to school , the first year is soooo enjoyable , even with the lack of sleep!

Congratulations

I have three kids, 5,4,and 10 months. Sounds to me like you have a perfectly normal and healthy baby on your hands. She's doing pretty much what all three of my kids were doing at 7-8 months old, including falling over when reaching for a toy. My two oldest didn't move until a year but my 10 month old is a proficient crawler. I have friends whose kids walked at 9 months! Just thank God she isn't teething yet because when that starts, all sleep patterns are obliterated. It sounds like you're a perfectly normal mom who is attentive to her child. The thing I've learned is that I always have to keep in mind what is "normal" for my child. Is their activity level as it usually is? Is their demeaner as it usually is or are they unusually fussy or irritable or lethargic? Do they seem to be progressing in aqcuiring skills in general or are they going backwards and losing them? There is a huge range of when it is acceptable to reach the milestones. If you have a major concern that just won't stop nagging you, then ask the doctor. Sounds like you make pretty awesome babies to me!

Thanks for such a nice post. It made me remember how much I truly started enjoying Motherhood when my daughter hit 8 months. This age is the beginning of all the fun. And it gets even better from here! Take lots of pictures and movies!
