I'm 14 weeks pregnant and just found out I'm having a boy. I'm wondering if there is ANYTHING I should do differently during my pregnancy now that I know I'm having a boy. This is my first baby and I'm excited but very nervous.

What can I do next?

Stop thinking of girl names. :) Just kidding. I had a boy then a girl. No difference in what I had to do to keep us all healthy. Congratulations!

Um no, why would you even think you eat differently with a boy? Thousands of years women carried children and only found out they were a boy or a girl at birth. Just because you know at 14 weeks doesn't change anything.

I think the only thing you need to start doing is preparing your mind for a WHOLE lot of potty talk through the years, and start thinking of ways to keep the area around the toilet clean, since little potty training boys can be very disgusting ;-)

Congrats on the baby boy, from a mother of 3 boys, with another coming in 3 weeks!

First, congrtulations on the boy. But why in the world would you do anything differently? So many people now even wait until birth to find out - follow doctor's orders for the safety and health of the baby, no matter what gender.

Also, 14 weeks is early to determine the sex...I'd ask for a double check at your next sonogram!

Nothing. Boy or girl, eat healthy, rest, take your vitamins and follow doctors orders.

No! The sex doesn't matter in terms of how you treat a pregnancy. Just keep taking your pregnancy vitamins, and drink 64 ounces of water a day, a little at a time so that your uterus doesn't get dehydrated. (The uterus is a smooth muscle tissue and it shrinks when it becomes dehydrated. Shrinking can cause contractions, and you DON'T want that to happen because those contractions can lead to pre-term labor.) Also, pee often. If you hold your urine, it causes the bladder to press on the uterus, and THAT can also cause contractions. So, drink and pee, drink and pee.

Eat nutritious foods and plenty of protein that helps baby's brain develop. Try not to eat a bunch of sweet stuff. Get your calcium in there too.

Walking is great exercise, but make sure you take potty breaks. Try to also get plenty of rest. Your body is working so hard while pregnant that it's akin to walking up a flight of stairs 24/7.

Congrats on your first pregnancy, and hope you enjoy the ride!

Nothing, besides getting used to the idea! It would have taken that long for me to adjust to the idea of a boy. I had a girl, and had only ever imagined having a girl.

Welcome to mamapedia!!

Congratulations!!! Keep in mind - since you are soo early in your pregnancy - that it could be the umbilical chord!! So be prepared for a surprise!! Just in case!! :)

Nothing different. If you drink Coke/Pepsi or coffee - do NOT go cold turkey.
Sex is fine.
ENJOY!!
