Okay...I'm not sure how common this is but I have a problem when shopping for a bra. I like to have one that supports me but also pushes the girls up where they should be and also to help show cleavage. I wear plus size bras so that needs to be factored in. One of the biggest problems that I have is that when I buy a bra that I like and it has underwire, it's like the underwire doesn't last long. It either breaks on one side and pokes me or they both break and once you take them out there is no support. I know this my be TMI but I really need to find a bra that will help with these issues. I like to look sexy for my hubby and it also gives me a confidence boost. Thanks in advance to all of you for your imput or for even taking the time to read.

I, too, agree with Tara! I don't hand wash mine, but I do hang them to dry and they will last MUCH longer. Most women wear the wrong size and, as a rule of thumb, try going down O. band size and UP a cup size as a good place to start. I also like the lined cups so my "high beams" don't arrive before I do!
You've got to go to Avenue or Lane Bryant to buy your bras. I've had the same issue w/ poking and breaking of the underwire. Once I started buying the more expensive bras (make sure you use coupons or get them when they are on sale!) they started lasting much longer. I've had my current set of bras for over a year now and they are still in good shape and even went through breastfeeding w/ me. Definitely worth the money.
Bali makes some lovely underwire bras in large sizes; the most comfortable bras I've ever owned. Well worth the extra money to get their "extra padded" underwires... so comfortable!
Hi M.,
You've gotten some great responses already! Prior to pregnancy/breastfeeding I was a 34 DDD/F and absolutely fell in love with Wacoal bras. You can find them at Macy's, Nordstroms, and some other department stores. They are pretty, with great support, and most come with matching panties, even thongs! They have higher band sizes and possibly higher cup sizes. I agree that you should get measured, but don't get measured at Victoria's Secret, they will find a way to make you fit into their bras, and they don't go any higher than DD cups. Great suggestion to try a smaller band size and larger cup size first. The right size makes all the difference in the world. No more readjusting throughout the day. And absolutely hang dry your bras (and panties for that matter), it will help them last a lot longer. Good luck on making the girls and yourself happy!
Hi M., go to your nearest Lane Bryant(they have really helped me) or a GOOD laungrie store and get fitted for your bra's. If your underwires are pinching, breaking and not lasting long you are not in the right size bra for you. Keep in mind that cup size changes when your band size does...and that usually means down not up. For every band size you go up the cup size is usually 2 inches bigger...so a 40C has a bigger cup than a 38C even though they are both C's. You should also try on each and every bra you buy since just like clothes each style will fit differently even if they are made by the same folks. Also you should never put your bra's in the dryer. Taking the time to let them air dry helps them last longer & keeps them nicer. Hope this info helps...I know it helped me since I learned it a couple of years ago! Best wishes.

Hope this helps. Good luck. D.
Call The Bra Lady in Warrington, PA. She is fantastic. I wear a 34G (I was a 38P while nursing!) and she has fitted me with every single bra I've owned for the last 6 years. You won't be disappointed.
AMEN to Tara's response!
I agree with most every one go to a store have them MEASURE you. This is their job and they are trained to do it. Also DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE DRYER! it DESTROYS them! i have had some bras for 5+ years. I worked for Vicky's for a long time, now i do not fit in their bras so i go to lane bryant. and i am a 42DD.
I agree that you have to be measured, but I'm not sure you don't need to be shopping for "better" bras than Victoria Secret's and the like. Find a really high-quality lingerie store that sells brands like Chantelle or Anita.
I'm a 40D and have learned that sexy usually means I will fall out of it, comfortable means it would be ok if I was in a car accident and they had to cut my clothes off and it showed, but the one I usually go with is from the store Avenue, believe it or not they call it 'very sexy.' Whatever. It's nice material, made well, has a little bit of a padded lining so your "high beams" don't yell good morning to everyone, wider shoulder straps, and affordable at around $29. Also, Bali came out with the one that has concealing petals on the center, and they have good coverage - full coverage that is - and it's comfortable. They have better printed patterns and don't look as utilitarian as the ones from Avenue. Remember first and foremost, sexy comes from inside, and your husband will see that in your actions.
If you wear plus size bras go to Lane Bryant! They have beautiful, well made bras- many with matching panties! They also do bra fittings so you can get the best size for you.
Good luck!
I wear a 42DD Lane Bryant Balconette. They have regular ones for every day, but they also make sexy ones for fun. You can usually get buy 1 get 1 50% off. Sign up for the mailings and get $25off a $75 purchase.
Mine usually last 6 mos or more with just air drying after the wash.
