How many of you out there had a really difficult pregnancy and were afraid for the next one? Did you have serious complications with your first but then zero to almost no complications in your proceeding pregnancy/pregnancies? Is it POSSIBLE to have a smooth pregnancy after a pregnancy with serious complications???
Anyone want to offer me any hope or just share your story?? =-)

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! I had sever preeclampsia with my second pregnancy and my Dr. warned me that my next, I would likely have it. I want another baby SO bad! I always dreamed of having 3 =-) I’m going to make an appt. to go see my OBGYN about having another baby!

YES it's possible! I PROMISE! : )

Every single pregnancy is completely different, just like every child is. The ONLY similarity I have with each of my pregnancies is I never get morning sickness but get really bad indigestion. Besides that, they're always different in many ways. Good luck to you and keep the faith!!

I lost my first pregnancy and went on to have a textbook perfect pregnancy with my daughter. The doctor told me how perfect it was and how he was amazed at how easy of a patient I was. It was a little bit of a road to get pregnant with my daughter and I was truly worried about making it full term with a smooth pregnancy, but it is possible! Here's hope and good luck to you!

Hello, I have four grown kids. I was so sick with "morning sickness" with my first one that I don't know how I survived. With my second one I was sick in a different way. I just got so tired. With my third and fourth ones I didn't have morning sickness or any other problems. I loved being pregnant and had a lot of energy with the last two.
Good luck with your precious family.

With my first child I had IUGR (interuterine growth restriction) basically my uterus breaks down and stops giving food to the baby and I also had low amio fluid. Doctors kept an eye on me, I went on bed rest and he came out 4 weeks early at 5 lbs. My next two kids I had the same thing, but also high blood pressure, one was 4 lbs and the other 4 lbs 11 oz. With my fourth child my doctor was so surprised. With IUGR it usually happens with all pregnancies. But to our surprise I had not a sign of it. I had plenty of fluid, and my placenta was very healthy. The other three placenta's when they came out where black like tar and broke apart in many piece's. So my last chid was only two weeks early at 6 lbs 8 oz. To me that was a big baby. I have also misscarried 4 times. So yes, each pregnancy is different but please talk with your doctor and your husband about what choice you want to make. You have to work together. My doctor, my husband and I knew what may happen and had a plan of action. I hope this helps. Good Luck and take care. Also just a note from a mom of 4, having 2 kids is a perfect number.

My feeling is that every pregnancy is different. My first was text book - then I had low fluid levels so they induced me and he was born a healthy 7 lbs 9 oz. 3 years later we tried again. I got pregnant and just as the tiredness and nausea set in - I misscarried at 7 weeks. That was the hardest thing I've ever dealt w/. (November 2008) We got pregnant again and despite spotting several times and a trip to the ER when the bleeding got worse, the baby was born 3 weeks early at 6 lbs 1 oz (October 2009) and was perfectly healthy. My advice - try not to let the past experience worry you too much. W/ a misscarriage on my mind I didn't fully enjoy my pregnancy as I was worried about absolutely everything. Enjoy your time being pregnant and I wish you the best :-)

It would depend on the complication. I have hyperemesis. Extreme vomiting, weight loss, dehydration, lots of hospital visits and even a few stays at the hospital! My dr told me the chances of not getting it for each pregnancy were slim to none and that it would proly just get worse for each one! Well they were right! I am having my son in 3 weeks and I throw up still everyday sometimes still all day! ugh! So my point, some complications will always be there and some may not! It just depends on what it was! Good luck!

I was toxic with my now 15 year old. Gained 80lbs., very high blood pressure, lost mucus plug around the 3rd month and saw the dr. every week of the pregancy. My now 13 year old had none of these complications. Dr. told me that it was unusual but it happens. Good luck!!!!

Honestly, it really depends on what you have going on and why you might have had a difficult pregnancy. I had lots of complications with my first due to a uterine septum and delivered at 32 weeks via semi-emergency c-section.

But my second went much easier because my uterus had been pregnant and therefore had a bit more room and because my new doctor knew my history they took extra precautions to prevent contractions like using progesterone suppositories from 16 weeks on. I had a pretty uneventful pregnancy (only had to go in once for contractions yeah!). I delivered at a planned 37 weeks ( a day earlier than planned because they found a window in my uterus that could have caused a rupture-more fun!) so for me, even though I'd love another and my second pregnancy was pretty easy, I'm not willing to take any more chances because of my particular circumstances. My poor little uterus just has issues lol.

Yes. All pregnancies are different so just because one or even two were hard it doesn't mean the next will be too. To make a long story short with my first I had placenta previa and was on bed rest. Had to have many many extra doc. visits and many ultra sounds. I had a 25 lbs weight limit and was considered a "high risk" pregnancy through the whole 9 months! Then when I went into labor I ended up with an emergency c-section for other reasons (not because of the previa) But with my second. It was totally different. I had no problems other than the usual morning sickness, tiredness etc. So I don't know what kind of problem you have had but for me the pregnancies were really different.

With my second pregnancy I was hospitalized with severe double pneumonia and hyperemesis (couldn't keep food or liquid down). I was on death's door. Could not even sit up and even bodily functions shut down. I had to be fed thru a feeding tube. I survived and so did my son. My third pregnacy went without a hitch. I had a normal pregnancy and was blessed with my little girl.

My friend had a really hard time conceiving, a rough pregnancy, a terrible delivery.... and in the end, a down's baby.
The 2nd time - piece of cake - healthy baby.

However, if the doc says preeclampsia is likely again, then you better take that into consideration.
