Do what is best for you and your household! If need be...find someone else! That wouldn't stand with my husband.
Everytime I turn around my lawn is costing 150.00 or 200.00, it is driving me crazy. I wasn't really happy last year when we moved in and continued using the same lawn people for the house, but this year I am really frustrated. They put fert. or weed killer or whatever on the lawn and then 50.00 for this 50.00 for the cut etc. I also talked to him a month ago and told do not cut the grass every week....I can't afford it. Every 10-14 days. He acted like he understood, I don't think he was happy about it, but I don't care. They never ask if they can put this down on the grass they just do and then 50 for this and the 50 for this starts. I also never see an invoice, which I find odd. I think I know what I am going to do, but I just wanted to see if anybody else has had this problem or if this is normal?

Hi D.
So guys are like that with there lawn service but if you are unhappy you should ask them for an invoice or tell them to ask before they do it if they expected to be paid that day for it. So lawn services feel that when you let them take over your lawn that it is for them to do it all and you will pay for it and that is what it sounds like with your guy.
We have a guy that we pay 30 dollars every two weeks and he doesnt do anything else but cut and weeded the yard.
Hi D.,
My husband and I are in the process of building a landscape business and we would never just assume that a customer would want us to do something. We always let them know of any possible charges in advance of doing any service. Also, it is not uncommon at all for people to have their lawn serviced once every two weeks instead of every week. They should be very understanding of this. We also find out the customers preference for invoicing. We prefer to send invoices via email, but if the customer prefers to have them mailed via postal mail or left on the door, we honor that request. We believe that in any service industry, customer satisfaction is top priority and fortunately we both have a ton of customer service experience...many do not. Good luck on finding someone that better suits your needs. Let me know if we can help. Thanks.
D.,
Hi, my name is S. and my husband and I own a lawn care service in La and in Ms and to answer your question, from what we hear, that is how most lawn care companies operate. We feel it is very unprofessional and we do not handle our business that way. We give an intitial estimate and then stick to that price per cut. Now if any additional services are requested we provide a written estimate. We have every customer on a schedule of when they want their lawn done and that is when we do it unless otherwise changed by the customer. You definitely need to find you a new lawn care person and if you are in La or Ms I would be glad to give you an estimate or refer you to someone very dependable and reasonable. Please let me know if I can help in anyway.
Good luck,
S.
