yes, a LITTLE is normal. if the bandage is saturated? no.
I will assume it's facial since you said plastic surgeon...facial wounds can bleed fast and a lot.
It's dried blood. Not fresh blood. You should be good.
My poor baby needed 3 stitches yesterday (thankfully she only needed 3). She woke up this morning and I noticed a line of dried up blood underneath the bandage. Is this normal? I just called the plastic surgeon's office but the doctor was not in. I am waiting for someone to call me back. I figured I'd ask on here to ease my mind until I here back from the doctor.
Thank you all for the responses. The doctor called me back snd said that this is perfectly normal. He said that after the local anesthetic wears off, the area will start to bleed a little. The stitches are on her face, right above her nose.

Yes.
A little bleeding is to be expected.
It's normal for them to bleed a little and to leak serum.
Yes, normal. I had surgery a few months ago, and I had a little bit of bleeding around my stitches for a day or two. Nothing major, just minor seepage. It was barely there. The surgeon said this was normal and would go away after a day or so, and it did.
A little is fine. Every day it should look just a little better and better. Just keep following your discharge instructions. I'm guessing neosporin ointment and eventually a little dab of vitamin e for the scar?
Poor baby. If it is a small line of dried blood, I think it's fine (although it's good you have a call in to make sure). If it were a lot of blood, wet like it is still bleeding, and it was seeping through the bandage, then I'd say take in her right away.
Yes - always have that here.
