Is a Poker Face After a Job Interview Good, Bad, or Indifferent?

My husband just had an in-person interview (out of state - they flew him in). He feels the interviews went well (he met w/ several people). At the end of the day, the person that would be his boss told my husband they will be in touch within a week. My husband said he had a poker face, & couldn't get a "read" on him one way or the other. Do you think that is good, bad, or indifferent? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I think it just means that the potential boss didn't want to give anything away, good or bad.

Some people play it very safe when it comes to conducting job interviews. They are very careful to behave in the same way to all candidates, make sure every candidate gets asked the exact same questions (often by the same people) so that everything is "fair." This is very often the case with government jobs and big companies, as there are people to answer to and you don't want to give anyone any reason to think there was favoritism of any kind.

I've also been on interviews when I thought I knew walking out the door that there was no way I was going to get the job ... and then got a phone call later that week. One time I was offered the job on the spot! (That was so cool!)

I'm sorry to say, that I think you're just going to have to wait it out. This interviewer isn't giving anything away until he's ready.

Don't try to read into anything, there's no way to know what the interviewer was thinking and you will drive yourself crazy. Just be glad that they gave you a timeframe, at least at most you will be waiting a week rather than weeks waiting for a call that may not come.

Wow...they flew him in? That's a great sign. I bet he gets it.

But to your question: Yes, poker face is standard.

indifferent.. when it comes to interviews. you never know.. the jobs where I thought I had a chance were the ones when the employer was all smiles. turns out, didn't get those ones... The interviews that turned out best were the ones with a poker face..
good luck

Poker face is a choice, perhaps to illicit a response. No difference I think.

how could we know?
a good interviewer will have cultivated a good poker face. it's what they do. so it's like asking us if the soccer player's clean uniform means he'll play well.
i think the fact that they flew him in bodes well. beyond that, it's just bite your nails for a week!
good luck. i'll bet he gets it!
