I really enjoy the playground at the Galleria or WillowBend. The one at willow bend is very spacious. Of all the malls we've gone too - these two malls playgrounds seems to be the cleanest and best cared for.
I am looking for suggestions to take my 2 year old daughter to play on days when it's too cold to play outside. Can anyone offer suggestions on such places? I moved from San Antonio and we had quite a few indoor play areas that didn't cost much. We live in University Park so if you know of anything close by, please let me know.
Thank you to everyone who responded. All of you provided me with so many options, it's wonderful. I looked forward to taking my daughter to all these places.

WIllow Bend mall is our favorite on the Dallas North Tollway and Park in Plano.
Don't know where University Park is, but we go to:
Chick-Fil-A
Paradise Pond
The Tubes
Monkey Business
The Parks Mall (they have a small playground)
McDonald's
I know you stay at home, but you can go to http://www.meetup.com/planoworkingmoms/ to look for some activity ideas.
Hey I thought this was Katelyn's playgroup buddy and then I bothered to look who it was from. Going Bonkers is what I heard of and it is under two miles from me if you want to come this way and do an outing and come over after for a while. I have another friend whose child would be in our playgroup if he wasn't in school on Thurs. I like the science Museum at Fair Park as well. Take Care, Miriam
I used to go to the third floor galleria, right outside of nordstrom. The kids loved driving all the way up to the sky bridge.
Im from San Antonio! Unlike SA ...Dallas has very little for the kids ....almost no indoor play areas. The only mall playarea worth going to is the Galleria. Try the Dallas Museum of Art and also think of enrolling her in kindermusik or little gym. The Museum of Science and Nature in Fair park would be good. As for mexican food esp puffy tacos.....You are out of luck!
L., welcome to Dallas! I actually grew up in University Park on Hanover and went to Hyer elementary. They have great schools. I now live out in the Flower Mound/Lewisville/Highland Village area. Boomerangs http://www.boomerangspartyandplay.com/ has 3 location. Going Bonkers is a little bit of a drive www.goingbonkers.com. Wiggles Play Center http://www.wigglyplaycenter.com/ in Frisco is good if you also want to stop by the mall or Ikea. It's a straight shot up the Tollway. The play area outside Slappy's Puppet Playhouse http://www.slappysplayhouse.com/ at the Galleria is surprisingly well set up. My son also likes the performances at Slappy's. He will be 2 in March. Pump it Up http://www.pumpitupparty.com/tx/Dallas/home-p1q56.htm has a free time play. Although I haven't been there yet. The Y off Preston used to offer swim lessons indoors. I haven't been there in ages. Good luck!
We love Chick-Fil-A at Central and Southwestern. The staff is very helpful and kid-friendly and they have free balloons for the kids.
My daughter adores the Galleria play area that other people have mentioned, and she also loves the "square slides" at NorthPark Mall outside of Neiman Marcus. Also in NorthPark Mall, the Bookmarks library branch is just for children, and it has big chairs and computers and wonderful guest performers like Kindermusik ladies or the Critterman (that was awesome) or the Kabuki man (who had the little kids flipping fans and putting on a short play). Other libraries have storytime for kids, too, as do Barnes & Noble and Pottery Barn Kids. (I know you asked about play areas, but storytime can be lots of fun for the two-year-olds. They get to clap or jump up and down or wiggle on cue, which they really enjoy.)
I hope this helps. Welcome to Dallas.
welcome to dallas!
i second (or third) chick-fil-a, the galleria, going bonkers and pump it up. i've taken my 3 year old to the pop in play times at pump it up a few times and even had her 3rd birthday there. it's a great place for kids to run off all of that extra energy :) if the regular pump it up is too big or overwhelming, there is a pump it up junior in plano that caters to younger kids. we also just got back from going bonkers. it was fun but a little far.
good luck!
the Wiggles up in Frisco is so much fun. You could have Luigi's pizza for lunch. It is right next to it. Probably the best New York style pizza in the DFW area.
there is a lot of places in plano. there is a wiggles place and you can go to dallas area kids and do a search for activities. Also jump n jive in rockwall pump it up jr in plano, almost all the malls have fun little play areas.
We go to the indoor playground at Chick Fil A on Hillcrest and we are enrolled in Montgomery Music (they have the classes at Biggers Gym (near the intersection of Mockingbird and Hillcrest across from the chuch) and you get an access card with the class that allows you to play in the indoor gym. I know Pump It Up at Forest and 75 also allows open play but we haven't tried it yet. The Museum of Nature and Science in Fair Park is also a really fun indoor play option as is the Flight Museum near Love Field. Also, at the Galleria on 635 and the Tollroad there is your typical mall play area on the third floor near Nordstroms but there is also a little indoor play place/toy store near Slappy Puppethouse (also right by Nordstrom on the third floor) that costs $5 an hour and has a ton of toys that would be age-appropriate for your daughter. Good luck! We have family that lives in North Central SA and I am so jealous that they have those indoor play areas in SA! It would be a great idea here!
