I also go to Dr. Tai at Valle Verde Pediatrics and he is AWESOME!! VERY caring, thorough and I always feel like my son gets such a GREAT eval ever time he goes there. Very nice man!! Located right next to Pomerado hospital in Poway.
We are new to the area and I am looking for a friendly, down-to-earth pediatrician for my 2 year old and 2 month old sons.

Not sure what area you're in but we see an amazing pediatrician in the Hillcrest area off of Washington street. Her name is Dr. Tami Nakahara. She's very kind and gives you her undivided attention. All of the other doctors at the practice are really good too. And they are open late (i had a last minute appt for my daughter at 8pm!) and on saturdays.
lynne scannell at Scripps clinic in Santee.
are you in chula vista? What area are you in exactly? In chula we see Dr. Adam Breslow and are pretty happy with him.
Dr. Vivian Tung in La Jolla is awesome. She is associated with Children's Primary Care Medical Group and is FANTASTIC! My 2 boys have been with her since they were born and both enjoy going to see her. She is very thorough and caring and has always been great at following up with us to make sure the boys are doing better. There are several other doctors in the practice too and they are all fantastic!
if you're in east county, then Dr Richard Short. My son has seen him ever since he was a 7week premature NICU baby. When I wanted my son tested for ADD he spent an entire hour with us, his distertation was on that subject. The entire staff is friendly and I love him!! My friend who is a new mom calls around twice a week with "new mommy" questions and they always return a (assuring) call. He's with La Mesa pediatrics and here is their website.. www.lamesapediatrics.com again such a nice down to earth doctor.
We see Dr. K. Tai in Poway. He is part of Valle Verde Pediatrics. He is awesome! Very caring. Even makes follow up calls after you see him if your kid is sick or in my case, your 3 yo swallows a quarter and needs to get it surgically removed. Or when your 2 yo drops a clay pot on his foot and needs stitches. Or when your 3 yo shoves the car keys into the electrical socket and gets zapped and has to go to the ER to precautionary measures.
And yes, this was all for the same child, my rambunctious and very curious son. Dr. Tai called everyday until we told him that my son was back to normal.
Dr. Rendler the other person in the practice is very thorough, but he can be a little rushed. Both he and Dr. Tai took excellent care of my daughter when she was born and in the Nicu for jaundice though.
Dr. Bertha Gee-Lew off of 6th st. 2850 6th Ave. ###-###-####.
real people answer the phone. She inspects what she expects. No frills, just serious medicine. She has two other Dr.s and they are fantastic as well.
I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Gee-Lew. I also like Dr Stepahnie Powell. She is with Children's primary by Children's hospital. Good Luck
