I have been watching my niece and my own son, in my home, for awhile now, and my neighbor has just started bringing her daughter over 3 days a week for me to care for. I have plenty of experience and and great referrals from my past childcare experience(I was a nanny for 6 years) and I think I am wanting to add one more child to my care and I have a few people who need my help. So my question is, in Texas, would it be illegal to watch that many kids? Besides my son, I would watch my niece full time and the other two children would be here part time and their days would be opposite of each other, except for one day, where I would have all four kids. I don't know if I need to be registered for that or not and I can't seem to find the answer on the internet, so I thought you ladies might know. Also, if I do need to be registered or licenced, how does that work? Does it cost money, do they come inspect your house, etc? I am renting my house, so is that even okay to register the daycare, when I don't even own the home? (my landlord knows about me watching kids and has no problem with it). Any answers about this process would be great! I already have a contract for my daycare written up and all the forms the parents must sign for medical authorizations and payment info and all that good stuff, so I think I am heading in the right direction, but I would really appreciate any of your feedback! Thank you so much!

Well to find out Texas law, I would ask someone at a day care of or a school who to talk too...............as for watching the kids, you should probably get CPR and first aid trained..........I don't know what this cost, but some YMCA or fire department might be able to help you find a class and how much it would cost...............
Good Luck and take care.
I answered a question about child care in Texas just a few minutes ago and here are the links I sent that mom.
To learn about the licensing regulations here is your state link:

For home child care regulations:

I think this will help you get started.

Good luck,

In Texas, you can watch up to 3 kids (unrelated to you) if you get listed with the state. It costs $20 and it's just to say that you have a clean background check. They don't inspect you or anything. If you watch more than 3 kids, you will need to get registered. The link that Karen B. gave you will have the paperwork that you need to fill out.
