B.C.
If I have to hear the Max and Ruby song, "bake, bubble, bubble bake, apple pie is fun to make.." one more time....
It used to be Barney. We literally have 20 of those dvds and I am sooooooo thankful that that phase is over with!
Once upon a time, I would have considered myself a bit of a Star Wars nerd. Nothing over the top, but I was a fan. Then my hubby started watching the movies with my son, hoping to gain his interest. And it's worked. He's borderline obsessed. And last night, I heard my TWO year old daughter ask if the three of them could watch Star Wars together. I walked in and they were all cuddled in bed. It was cute. But I could not join them. I couldn't handle watching it one more time! A few months ago it was Ghostbusters - the first and second movie and the cartoon from the 80s. I officially hate hearing "who you gonna call?". What was once cute is now annoying. So let's hear it ladies. What are you tired of seeing on your boob tube?
Maybe I shouldn't complain. We don't have cable, so I am not subjected to things like the Disney Channel or Sponge Bob. :)
@B, surprisingly my kids love documentaries...go figure,
@Stacey B - you win! ;)

We went through three "Lion King" VHS tapes when my 17-yr old was a baby/toddler. I think I could recite the entire movie from memory. :P
The funniest thing is he still loves all things Disney . . . and he's a guy's guy - football, basketball, etc.
I echo the sponge bob AND Johnny Test. . . ok I kinda like Johnny Test its funny.
And as bad as it sounds - letter factory made me want to punch myself silly on our road trip to Yellowstone last summer I almost threw jungle book 2 out the window when we hit the Wyoming border - LOL! My kids were even watching it in french because they liked it so much - WE DON'T EVEN SPEAK FRENCH!!
Can you tell I am still twitching from that one;)
I cannot wait for school to start next week so I don't have to hear the Spongebob Square Pants theme song. It plays over and over in my head. ALL DAY LONG. I was singing it in the car the other day for no apparent reason. And my children only watch one episode in the mornings during breakfast. AUGHHH! :)
Pay your dues! For me it was all things Disney Pixar Cars. Every single day the first year, every week the 2nd year, and once or twice a month the 3rd year. Then, lo and behold, Disney comes out w/Cars 2.
'nuff said.
OMG my huband is addictive to drumroll please,... DALLAS!! Not only him but our 18 year old son as well. We have ALL the episodes. I hear the theme song come on and I run to the other room. Yikes! Also, they are going to making a new version of DALLAS
Yep, we went through a Star Wars phase, and a Ghost Buster phase, too.
And then we went on to Jurassic Park phase- I swear I had the scripts almost memorized.
We also watched fire truck videos and some Bob the Builder.
Although it's great to have favorites to watch over and over - don't be afraid to expose them to something different every so often.
My son LOVES LOVES LOVES Abbot and Costello movies and even though we've played them often, it takes a long time for them to get boring and it's great when he knows 'Who's on First' when a lot of the kids his age know nothing about it. He knows a few Andrews Sisters songs to (which is coming in handy now that he's in band).
We've been watching a lot of classics ('Arsenic and Old Lace', some musicals, etc) and he's learned if the plot is good enough you don't even notice or care if the film is in black and white.
If you switch it up enough you can cut down on some of the endless repeating.
Today I'm sick to death of Top Shot, Hell's Kitchen, Tinkerbell, & watching baseball on the Wii. I refuse to watch any of the live Disney shows like Zack & Cody, Hannah Montanah, That's So Raven because they are so obnoxious it just makes me grind my teeth. The only exception is Wizards of Waverly Place, for some reason I kind of like that one. Years ago I couldn't take one more minute of Power Rangers or Max & Ruby.
Mostly SpongeBob but I could throw in others. I think it's the theme music that sets me off. My son LOVES it and it turns into a mosh pit with the dogs until the actual espisode starts.
I feel your pain! I would get rid of Netflix altogether if my 7 year old (daughter-no less) wasn't absolutely obsessed with Kung-Fu Dino Posse. I watch this and just wonder what it is about a group of dinosaurs that can do Kung-Fu that is SO appealing?!?
Oh, and Jurassic Park (all three of them). She will watch dinosaurs ripping people apart but cries if I want to put on E.T. Go figure!! :-)
Just about everything. My 3 yr old gets stuck on a movie and will watch it to death. I get to the point where I know it word for word. As soon as the credits roll she will say I want to watch it again. So then we go out and buy her a new movie and she will play that one over and over again. It does get aggrevating. I have not been able to watch an adult program in so long that I don't even know what is on anymore. When she goes to sleep we are searching for something to watch. Its crazy! I had to take my daughter to McDonalds for a couple of hours so that my husband could watch the latest Harry Potter movie. I will have to do it again when the last one comes out on DVD. Its sad when we can't watch tv or a movie without her hollering to watch one of her movies. She has her own tv and dvd player in her room but she will scream and cry to watch it downstairs. I think its because she is with us. If she wants to watch it in her room then one of us has to go with her.
I know exactly what you are saying and I feel for you. I guess we just have to hang in there till they get tired of it. LOL!!!
Ramona and beezus, princess and the frog, daddy day care, toy story 3, diary of a wimpy kid and if I hear espn on my livingroom tv it irritates the helll outa me!
Nothing. My children don't watch TV! And here you have given me yet another reason for not allowing them to watch it - my head will not implode!! : )
Last month, my son watched IRON GIANT (cartoon movie about a robot) probably 5 times a week. This month, they have new Clifford DVDs at the library, so we are watching those. I'm not annoyed YET because there are 5 DVDs, so there is a bit of variety. Granted, I have one checked out this week, will check out a different one next week ..... so I only have to watch 5 different episodes for a week before I get a switch-up.
(We don't have cable either, so when it's DVDs only, it can be headache. Better than paying a huge cable bill every month!)
Does anyone remember "My Neighbor Totoro"? My nieces and nephew watched it over, and Over, and OVER again for months when they were young. I got so sick of it! The other day we were in the library and I was browsing the DVDs and found Totoro........just the sight of it made me twitchy!
Spongebob, Thomas, i-Carly, Mickey Mouse... Basically anything that is made for kids anymore.
When my now 15 yr old was a toddler / preschooler she was obsessed with this one Barney movie. It was cute (the kid - NOT the dinosaur) but after about 20 viewing I wanted to puke. My daughter has absolutely NO memory of the movie. Doesn't even ring a bell to her - and I will forever be tortured by the memory. ;o)
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.....and Cagilfagilistexpialadocious..(sp) music from those videos I am gonna scream....Most recently the backyardigans and the wonder pets....There's an animal in trouble!!!! I know it's great for the kids but the repetition and over and over again....Can any one say Loony!! LOL
Wanna trade for a while? I miss Star Wars and my kids are not quite old enough for it....
I'll trade you some Star Wars for Caillou.
My 12 year old loves Toddlers & Tiaras, that show is pure torture for me! I'll be so happy when she's back in school and not watching it On Demand during the day. She also loves Cake Boss, and I really like it too but it gets very tiring when she watches the same episodes over and over; I mean, how many times can I watch Bridezilla ruin the wedding cake made for her, or watch them drop a cake down the stairs? For my 4 year old, she is obsessed with the Beatles, particularly the very bad cartoon that was made (I think it is late 60s or early 70s). My husband (huge Beatles fan) managed to find the episodes and record them on DVD and she loves watching them. It's really the music she likes, but we're tortured to watch those horrible cartoons over and over again!
But I realize these are some of the memories I will cherish when they are all grown-up . . . what their passions were as children, etc. And not just what they like to watch, either.
This is where I bought my own digital sony walkman. They watch their shows over and over. And I listen to the radio or my own music. It's a win win. You'll miss it later.
Pokemon is on my list.
