My daughter is going to turn 1 in Feb. I am having a party for 20-25 people. There are 3 babies 10 mo-12 mo, 4 children ages 2-10 and the rest are adults. Does anyone have any ideas that they did for their childs 1st birthday that was a fun game, an activity, or just any ideas from what you served to what was in the party bags.
We are looking for a fun time for everyone but not going overboard in cost.
Thanks

the magazine oriential trader has great party themes and tons of novility ideas for goodie bags at great prices! i just did a beach party luau theme .... hamburger hot dogs ..... dubois park in jupiter ..... they have the grills right there and lil park and shallow wade area for the kids ...... the older ones went swimming and i brought some of her toys and a blanket for the lil ones to play one is really too young to focus on the kids .... its kinda more a party for the adults to see how cute your lil one is. you know you could sit there and blow bubbles for an hour and your one year old would think it was the best time ever :o) Hope you have a blast and good luck!!

My DD is now almost 15 months. We had her birthday at 11:30 am (time for a morning nap and bath.)
I picked up chicken fingers, sandwiches, coleslaw, fruit, and other munchies (cheese & crackers). Have some milk/juice on hand for the other little ones. All food can be child/adult friendly then. FYI both Albertsons and Publix will provide a free smaller sized "smash" cake if you purchase the other cake there. (Albertson's doesn't have a size requirement, Publix did... I bought the small round cake at Alb. and was VERY pleased!)
We didn't have games. Socializing, kids playing with toys and the "birthday moment -- cake and candles" was enough excitement IMO.
Party was over by 2 with time for an afternoon nap.
To cut on costs, when buying party goods only purchase a few items with "1st Birthday" on it, buy the rest in a plain coordinating color -- like pink/purple. You can reuse at a later time and it's 1/2 the price. Party City had some cute stuff. (I actually Freecycled my extras because they were so lightly used!)
Have fun, put someone in charge of your camera for the "birthday moment" so you don't miss it!

THE BEST THING TO DO IS HAVE A PARTY AT 10AM AND SERVE BREAKFAST. IT IS EASY AND LOW COST. REMEMBER, SMALL CHILDREN NEED A NAP IN THE AFTERNOON. A MORNING PARTY WILL NOT HAVE ANY CONFLICT WITH A CHILD'S ROUTINE. YOU CAN SERVE...

BAGELS
CHEESES AND CHEESE STICKS
YOGURT
SMALL CEREAL BOXES AND MILK
DONUT HOLES
FRUIT
JUICE
BIRTHDAY CAKE

I DID THIS IN A PARK AND IT TURNED OUT GREAT!!!GOOD LUCK, M.
