My daughter is in Kindergarten and she has been asked to bring in a food that starts with the letter of her first name. They are doing this for Thanksgiving. I wanted something creative, but something that would appeal to 5 and 6 year olds. Does anyone have any ideas....her name starts with a "C".
Thanks

I don't know about how creative it is, but hot spiced Cider starts with "C" and goes with Thanksgiving foods...

I don't think you can go wrong with cheese & crackers. I don't know a 5 yr. old who doesn't love it.My 3 yr. old would eat nothing else if he could.

How about a sort of trail mix with a few "c" items in it like...craisins, chex mix, fish crackers, chocolate chips. Joann Fabrics always has really cute holiday boxes or bags to put it in. Or the everpopular...Cup Cake!

Cantalope? Its not very creative but most kids love it! You could make a cranberry/rasberry sauce with fresh cranberries, something with cheese is usually popular with 5-6 year olds. Sounds like fun!

well there are a lot of foods that begin with "C" but unfortunately most of them are dessert. cupcakes, cookies, cake, chocolate, carrots, chicken. Maybe you could do a mix of something. You could make a cupcake cake. It's really neat I do it for my daughter because she won't eat cake, but loves cupcakes. i dunno it must be the wrappers (cups) I make and bake the cupcakes then I arrange them into a certain pattern. since it's thanksgiving you could make them into the shape of a turkey and then line them up in that shape then frost them like a cake and make all the designs just as you would on a normal cake, but on top of cupcakes. It take a bit longer than a normal cake because you have to make sure that you have enough icing to make the cupcakes stick together but it's a pretty neat thing. and the ideas are endless. You can do it for pretty much any holiday or gettogether. Great luck. J. :)

You can get inexpensive cookie cutters at the craft store. You can get a turkey and a pumpkin and make festive Cookies. Then you can have your daughter decorate them so that she will have a big hand in the project.

Let's see.

Crackers with cheese and pepperoni
Croutons (homemade)
Cherry kisses
Carrots
Celery sticks with peanut butter or cream cheese
Cheddar cheese crackers
Caramel something - there are lots of things you can do with caramel.

Those are my ideas. Good Luck!

If she is allow to bring sweets in you could do "Carrot Cake Cup Cakes with Cream Cheese frosting" that is a lot of C's.

What about something with cranberries? Maybe cranberry sauce or a cranberry jello thing? Just a thought.

From a former K teacher... :)

How about carrots and cucumbers with dip (healthy!), crackers and cheese, cookies (maybe in the shape of the letter C), cupcakes (with a C written on them), cornbread, candy, cake (getting unhealthier by the minute here!)

Good luck! Let us know what you decide on. :)

Is this for their Thanksgiving Feast, to eat that day? How about cantaloupe, cheese & crackers, chicken nuggets, cherry jello jigglers.

corn bread, cocunut cream pie, cauliflower au gratin, cupcakes, cantalope, caramel apples, caramel dipped pretzels, couscous, crepes and chocolate sauce.

But like you I have to remeber this is your child's "project" and we have to let them do their own work and if she thinks of something on her own that is better than us trying to win the most creative award. We can help with suggestions if they can not come up with something but if it looks like something they don't know what it is then the teacher sknow we did it for them. I have twins in Kindergarten so I face the same dilemma all the time. This is their time to shine and not mine.

good luck hope you get to pick something fun to make together.
