Ideas for Communion Centerpieces

My daughters communion is the end of April. We are having it at a catering hall which is on a golf course w/ windows all around. I wanted to do something different for the center of the tables (bored of balloons). I have about 10 tables. Of course I dont want to spend an arm & leg. i was thinking of low profile flowers but then I thought it would be nice to do something different...but what? I'm up to doing anything, even making something...
And also, I am not doing favors for this party. Instead I am donating $$ to the Amer Breast Cancer Assoc & the United Network for Organ Sharing. My M. had a double mastectomy in Jan & my SIL had a liver transplant on Valentines day. An idea i had was to put pink (br cancer) & green (organ donor) M&Ms in glass jars.

What can I do next?

fat short glass vases filled with jelly beans. each table has a different colored jelly bean. at each seat place a small silk bag that cinches. then everyone can go from table to table at the end of the party and put a small scoop of jelly beans in their bag. surround the vase with flowers

How about a beautiful planted flower (or something along those lines), have your daughter hand out tickets to each of her guests (the other half going in a small bag on the table) and then she can pick a "winner" from each table. Someone goes home happier then when they came and you won't be stuck with 10 center pieces or wasted money if you need to through them away.

We have Communion 4/26 for my son. I'm keeping it small (35) and I'm taking his picture, putting it in a frame (nice silver ones from the dollar store) and that'll be the favor to everyone.

Good luck.

How about making cookies (larger ones) of any color and shape your desire) and insert sticks. You can make a centerpiece out of them by buying those styrofoam thingies.
As you can see, I have the idea but not the know how. I've seen them done and they're cute and can be used as a favoe as well! God bless!

Hi there.
I really like the jelly bean idea!! I just wanted to tell you that recently we did a baby shower for my cousin and she didn't want balloons either...well we owund up doing some, but not on the tables. Anyway, her theme was a jungle theme and we got these metal pots...they were white with like a hit of orange and green on them...we filled them with "jungle like" flowers and then bought tiny jungle animals to put in the middle. SO CUTE. We used just brown, orange, yellow, and green. We got EVERYTHING except the little animals at the dollar store. The flowers were great, especially when after that we went to AC Moore and the same flowers were like $5 or more A PIECE!!!
The jelly bean thing is a great idea though, or you could do a glass jar with different candy at each table with little baggies to fill. Definitely go to the dollar store (we went to Dollar Tree...they are usually the best) for the flowers. You could also check out Oriental Trading Company...they may even have some stuff for communion.

Hi M. D - What I made for my granddaugher's christening turned out adorable! I bought square glass vases in Michael's or AC Moore. I printed some photos of her, cut them to fit and put them on two sides of the vases on the inside (you could do four sides, if you want), and put shredded colored strips into the vases as well. I used the vases as anchors for balloons, but you could put flowers in them instead. Looked great and was a different type of centerpiece! Hope this helps you! Grandma

For a low profile centerpiece you can buy inexpensive cut glass bowls (from the dollar store) and float candles in water in the bowls. You can color the water with food coloring to match your linens, etc. You can also buy those little plastic scatter confetti to toss on the tables - I found cross-shaped ones on line when my son made communion three years ago. Good luck.

this idea is a little pricey but it is pretty and also has a function- what about those "edible arrangements"? (fruit cut into flower shapes)

How about a 'break away'center piece using small (3"-5") potted african violets- wrap the planter in ribbon or fabric to match or liven your decor. You can place 5 or so at each table and everyone can take one home. Metropolitan Flower Exchange on rt 17 north usually has them this time of year fairly inexpensive...they may give you a deal for buying in bulk.

Framed pictures of your daughter in her dress are also nice- unless you are using that for your Thank you notes.

Hi I do Pampered Chef and immediately I thought of a centerpiece either using our trifle bowl or batter bowl for the centerpiece where you can have the nice rocks in it with water and floating candle and or gold fish to symbolize life. We also have prep bowls with lids that come 6 to a set, where you can have one in each persons spot filled with the m&m's or like you said something with the pink and green. If you are interested I can help you out with a significant savings on the purchase, please call or email me at ###-###-#### or cell ###-###-####.
