Hey guys so I need some ideas. Well my son is turning 2 October 6th. My best friends daughter is turning 3 October 15. Well she is pregnant with her 2nd and her due date is October 12. So I was thinking to save her the trouble of trying to plan a party for her daughter while either (A. way to pregnant and tired or B. with a newborn) I would plan a combinded party for our kids. I have never done this before so I need some ideas. For where, when and how to do it and themes and games and what not.

What can I do next?

Hi there, not sure when this was posted, I may be a bit late. I do this all of the time with my two boys. One party we did was a football themed. Two cakes(football shaped) that I baked and put each name on each football and Aldo order a small sheet cake...i knew my cakes were not going to be good!! Supprizingly, they were ok, by the way! The sheet cake was just like a football field. For one child I would send invitations(prented on 8x11copie paper..decorated with football themed stuff off Internet) to his school that read a birthday party for Matthew. Then I would send the same invitation to school (classmates) that said William. I would then have some printed on card stock..not necessary to the family that stated birthaday party for matthew and William. The reason for this is so that kids didn't have to bring two gifts or a gift for a child they didn't know. The boys wore their fav. Football team gear and the girls..cheerleaders. My husban. Traced out a small football field with white spray paint and we made the goal out of PVC pipe. I believe we had saints on one end and LSU on the other. Really cute. So for the girl..cheeleaders and for boys..football players. I bought at $tree this chip and dip football shaped bowl. Serve hambergers and hotdogs just like the game. You can do just about anything it's just the way to do the invatations that might be helpfull. My husbands 1st cousin and her sister in law have girls the same age and they have them together every year. I just have to bring two gifts because they are both related to me on two different side though!! Hope this helps r helps anyone.

Just do it a neighborhood park or something like that... Or one of ur houses. For the theme do something neutral that both will enjoy... such as Madagascar, Spongebob, Ice Age, Open Season, etc... All kids love those movies. You can get them each their own little cake. Do a 1/4 sheet for each and get 1 chocolate and one white... Good luck

I've never been one for throwing parties for children who are so young that they will not remember them. I find them to be a waste of money (which is in short supply in this economy), and a bit of an annoyance. These gatherings tend to be more about the mothers than about the children.

Have you asked your friend about this? It may be that she'd rather just do something small. It's not like a 3 year old is going to say "I can't believe you didn't throw a big, blow out party!"

*Edit: Specific venues, themes and games are completely wasted on a 2 and 3 year old. What do they want? Finger foods, cupcakes, and new toys. For real excitement, do it at the toddler playground.

Your best bet is to do something with family and maybe a few family friends who spend a lot of time with your child. If the party is for both kids, I'd say that your child's family, her child's family and your children are plenty.

Good luck!
