My daughter is turning 9 yrs and wants an ice skating party but we have not been to one. Would anyone recommend this? And if so where in Raleigh has a good place? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Don't know your area, so can't suggest anywhere. My son had an ice skating party when he turned 7. Everyone had a good time. I was concerned because most of the kids coming couldn't skate but everyone had fun trying. Lots of them discovered a new activity.

I'm from New Jersey, and my birthday's in January, so I had a LOT of ice skating parties, LOL!!

With a small group, I'd say go for it! Assume you're going to have to pay for each child's skate rental, and make sure the rink will have at LEAST one person to aid the kids who've never skated before (more is obviously better). Make sure the parents are aware of the rink's rules and regulations (like neither you or the rink is responsible for personal injury), and make sure the kids dress appropriately.

Here in VA, they usually have rooms for parties too, so you can bring a cake, and then have the food provided by the rink. I'd call around and see which rinks support group parties, compare prices, and have fun!! :)

We did an indoor roller skating party for my son's 9th and the only big issue I had was that the kids kind of got lost in the crowd. We had about 40 minutes in the party room and then it was free skate. I felt bad because a couple of the kids left and we didn't even have a chance to say goodbye or thank you.

We went to an ice skating party at the Cary Ice House. They had a lot of fun and had an area blocked off for skating just for them. They also have a room with a large table for cake, lunch, etc. The party we went to had two parties going on ... one group at one table and another at the other ... in the same room. Depending on the size of your party, you may get the whole room. We also took lessons at the ice skating ring in Raleigh. Very old fashioned ring there. They do have rooms for parties too, but we never attended one. This ring is just off of the belt line near Capital Blvd.

Fun! Enjoy your daughter's birthday!
