I have been told by my doctor that you are more likely to get a false negative (usually from taking the test too early) than a false positive. If both tests were positive, you should schedule an appointment as soon as possible, especially since it can take time to get in as a new ob patient. Good luck, and try not to worry too much!

The saying goes "you are never just alittle bit prego". 2 positives...unless you are doing it wrong and interferring with the results..you better start planning for this baby!

Pregnancy tests are only false negative. Once it picks up the hormone for 'pregnant' then you really are preggers. Congratulations!!! :) Welcome to the club!

I tested negative on more than one home pregnancy test and I was pregnant. With my last child I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 12 weeks pregnant because of it. Good prenatal care is important. Go to your OB/GYN and do a pregnancy test.

The chances that BOTH are false pos are slim. More than likely you are prego. Make an appointment with your OB to make the final determination...they won't get false positive. If they say you are prego then you are. Good luck.

We were trying to pregnant after 5 years of marriage and I took a couple of pregnancy tests and thought I was pregnant and went to the dr for confirmation but the drs office test revealed that I was not actually pregnant.
The second time around, my over the counter tests were negative even though I had missed my period and it turns out I was pregnant....I was surprised but excited.
That was years ago so over the counter testing has probably improved since then but look at it this way..........people may make mistakes but God does not---so if you are pregnant (even though you may think you are not ready) then God has provided you with a wonderful blessing that will bring you joy and a broader understanding of life than you could ever imagine. So try to embrace it and enjoy the wonderful adventure God has in store for you.
It will all be alright! Don't worry! God be with you!

Girlfriend, you are pregnant. With my first baby I took four test and even ask the doctor to test me. They told me those home test are almost always right on positive. Sometimes a negetive result can be wrong, but positive is positive. YOu are pregnant. J.

Guess what . . 'Time will tell'! I understand your angst, but I'm afraid this 'microwave', hurry-up-want-it-now society has made us all a little too impatient. My daughter's 32 (today), and 33 yrs ago we couldn't get a pregnancy test until we'd missed a 'monthly' and was halfway (or further) toward the next one, then we had to go to either a doctor or the Health Dept. for the test. By that time, I was puking my guts up, peeing every half hour, feeling sleepy all the time and whatever other symptoms come when you're 4 weeks along!
I had 4 kids with never an ultrasound (to check their health OR their gender). They're all fine, healthy adults, and I'm glad that I didn't know their gender ahead of time.
Alas, the element of surprise is almost lost on pregnancy these days.

If you are not already doing so - I would recommend that you start taking prenatal vitamins. I remember how unbelievable it is when you first learn that you are pregnant. Try to limit your exposure to cigarette smoke, chemicals, and alcohol. If your periods are regular and this is the first one you have missed I would guess the baby will possibly be here around January 2010. St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington, KY has a maternity fair every year. I'm not sure of the date - but they have a drawing in which one mother-to-be wins a baby care gift basket and one of the gifts is an all expense paid labor and delivery at St. Joseph East. Welcome to motherhood!

My midwife told me there are no false positives. So girl you are probably preggers. Just so you know I had a planned pregnancy and I still had an OMG moment when I first took my test. Me and my husband also had many times in the first few months where we were like why are we doing this we should not have this baby. Once he was here though all those doubts go away. I know it is early to be thinking about this but you should really watch the business of being born so you can have information about giving your baby the best start. Good luck everything will work out for the best.

PT's are actually pretty accurate, that doesn't mean it can't be false, but, you've got a very slim chance of it not being reliable! Many doctors don't even do additional tests if you've already taken a home test and they read positive (especially two with the same outcome). Are you having any symptoms to follow? Pregnancy symptoms are very very similar to pre-menstrual symptoms. For a whole 8 weeks before I found out I was pregnant I kept thinking "ok, I know I'm gonna start my period any day now." And then the hunger came and I thought "oh, now its time to take a test!!!"
Good luck & congrats!!!

Congratulations! You are pregnant! Unless you are on infertility medication, there shouldn't be a reason your urine has HCG (the pregnancy hormone) in it.
If the tests were negative, there could be a chance of a false negative if you took them too early before your next period (before HCG builds up in your system.) Question negative responses and accept positive ones!
Hopefully you've been taking a multi-vitamin already, but if not make sure you AT LEAST are getting a lot of folate RIGHT NOW!!!
Good luck!!!

I don't know about statistics, but if it's very early then it could be. The hormone levels in your system may not be high enough yet. How late are you? You could wait one or two weeks and try again for better results, or call your doctor for a blood test. Those are accurate much earlier. Hope this helps! Best wishes.

The likelihood of a single pregnancy test being a false positive is 0.01%. (That's why they say "99.9% sure" on the box.) The likelihood of *both* being wrong is all but impossible.
Congratulations!
And, yeah, it's a little scary and definitely mind-boggling at times, but children are such a blessing!

You could actually go to your doctor's office and ask them to do a blood pregnancy test. I work with patients that we have to do the pregnancy blood test since they get a lot of negatives when they are actually pregnant. Hope this helps.

Pregnancy test are very accurate these days. In fact when you become pregnant the doctor doesn't even see you until 8 weeks. They rely on those tests too!

Not likely!! I would recommend you make an appointment with your Midwife or Dr. and have a blood test done. They should also be able to give you resources in the case that you wish to terminate the pregnancy.
Good luck to you!!

My sister in law took several over the counter pregnancy tests with both her children and ALL were negative but she was really pregnant. It took two blood tests to confirm she was pregnant -- both times. Her hormone levels just never got high enough until she was further along. She felt pregnant and was experiencing morning sickness, but for her the testing didn't show up until about 2 months into her pregnancies. I have never heard anyone else experiencing that, but it happened. Congrats!

As some of the others said... there's no false positive! If you took two tests, and they both read positive... you are pregnant!
My OB said the home tests these days are very similar (if not identical) to the urine tests the doctors use. Of course, doctors also have blood tests. Call and make an appointment, but they probably won't want to see you until you're about 8 weeks.
Good luck and welcome to the club!

Slim to none! Those tests are about 99% accurate. A false negative is possible if the test is taken too early and not enough HCG (the pregnancy hormone the tests detect) is present yet, but usually a positive is a positive--especially if you've got 2 positives! Congratulations! You're pregnant!

If you received two positives then you are pregnant. I took two pregnancy test the day after my period was suppose to begin and now I have a beautiful 6 month old girl. Make an appointment as soon as possible and begin taking an over the counter prenatal so you can begin getting the Folic Acid before your doctors appointment. There is nothing like being a mother. It has been such a joy! Good Luck and Congrats!
