Go and have your thyroid checked. Go to an ENT doctor.
Hey K.,
I take a B-complex multivitamin every day around noon to help my energy level. I've also found that the more foods with sugar and white flour I eat, the more tired I am unless I exercise every day.
A few years ago I was tested for thyroid disorder and mine was normal, so my doctor put me on Welbutrin and that helped some, but it wasn't until I started taking the B-Complex and cut out all the sugar and carbs that I really got my energy back.
Good luck!
Have your thyroid checked. Hypothyroidism is actually more common then most people think. Although most doctors aren't up on the latest research your TSH level should fall below 3.0 Don't let your doctor just tell you that you are normal. Ask to see your results and if you are any higher then 3.0 ask to see a specialist.
K., I agree the B12 sublinqual tablets that you put under your tongue to dissolve really helped me to have more energy and helped me to be more alert. But, it could very well be your medication. I started falling asleep during the daytime when my blood pressure was too high. I also gained alot of weight suddenly and found out that I was holding alot of fluid because of the blood pressure problem. And, you may be anemic and need iron pills.By the way, Dr. Phil's Weightloss Solution Cookbook helped me learn the correct way to eat and I lost over 30 pounds! You didn't say why you are depressed but I know having three little ones is quite alot of responsibility. Prayer helps so much and so does listening to soothing music and watching funny movies. Remember to take time for yourself and to do some things that you enjoy. Hope you feel much better soon. God bless you and your children.
I have four kids and I am tired too. Maybe you could prioritize what you need to do and what you would like to do. I found that, after having my son last year, the beds don't always have to be made and the house won't fall down if everything isn't in its place. I have never been a perfect housekeeper by any means, but I think I have finally gotten rid of the guilt. I also found that the best summer of my life was last summer when I spent almost the entire time outside swinging in the back yard. So what if the dishes were done later and the beds weren't made?
Also sometimes I go straight to the tub when my husband gets home for 30 minutes to myself. I feel so rejuvenated afterward.
I also like to sleep when they sleep. Sounds simplistic, but it works.
Hi, I don't know much about you but I do know this,,, I have 4 kids and just that can wear you out but on top of that I have an iron deficency and a thyroid problem that makes me stay extremely tired and weak. So, If I were you ,I would go and have that checked out.
Hope you feel better!
I am a mother of four. One boy, 13, 3 girls, ages 9, 5 and 1 1/2. I also work about 80 hours a week.. I own a daycare. Last year, i tried staying at home with my children, and i hated it. I felt the same way! I think my problem is that i was bored and tired of the same happenings, day in and day out. Plus, i felt useless because i could never keep the house clean enough. I'd clean it, they would mess it up. I got plenty of sleep then.. Now, i get about 5 hours of sleep every night, but i am always very hiper and productive. You might try doing something outside of the house everyday. Like maybe taking an early morning jog around the block or something.
Hello K. I am a mother of four. 13, 11, 9 ,7. I use to always be tired and it still hits me sometimes, but I have noticed that the best thing for me is to do things for myself. Take care of you. Sometimes you get caught up in the kids and the husband and the house and ect that you forget about you. I make sure I get a pedicure 1 x a month. Get my hair done. By a new purse. What ever makes you feel good and when you start doing this more often then you will feel better. Me and my family are never home, but I make sure I have time for me. Also try to have a girls night out every once in a while. These little things add up and boost your energy and self esteem.
hope this helps.
Even with medication sometimes all the symptoms of depression aren't controlled. Being tired may be something that you need to talk to your doctor about. He might want to switch you to a different medicine or change your dose.
Diet and exercise has a lot to do with energy level. The first thing I would recommend is for you to take a daily vitamin. I know it sounds silly, but it really helps. Next be sure that you are eating your 5 servings of veggies and fruits every day. If you really are motivated try going for a walk around the block once a day, nothing strenous but get outside and move a bit more than you normally do.
I feel the same way and only have one boy. I've started taking a multi-vitamin with extra B-6, and also a few anti-oxidents called ALA (Alpha lipoic acid) and ALC (Acetyl L-Carnitine) and have had alot more energy since. I've never been big on suppliments or holistic medicine before but thought it wouldn't hurt to try. So far I'm happy with the results.
Have you tried iron pills or vitamins? I am slightly anemic (and always tired) Iron supplements seems to help me out. Check with your doctor, There are so many things that can cause lack of energy.
Your depression meds. may be the problem. Prozac and Zoloft didn't make me tired, but my mom and another family member have had antidepressants that are better than sleeping pills. Do they think you won't know your depressed if your asleep all the time?! I would talk to my DR. and ask him if the sleepiness was a side affect.I know some people wouldn't agree, but I'd try coffee. I used to be the same way, never any energy, couldn't get things done, and I didn't drink caffeine. I started drinking coffee, and at first it made me jittery, but now its what gets me going every day. Also what helps is if I get dressed like I'm going somewhere. Nothing fancy, just not my pajamas all day! I get up, dress everyone, make breakfast, have coffee, even if I'm still tired, if I make myself stay up instead of going back to sleep, it seems to help.
Hi K., You do have all the signs of depression, but like you said you are taking meds for that. Maybe your meds are to strong for you you might want to mention that to your doctor. And also you need to take a multivitamin. I recommend Complete Nutrition its a multivitamin in liquid form, you can get it from any Sam's Store, and it wont get in the way of your meds and it taste good too. Also have you heard of a energy drink that helps you loose weight and give you energy also it has a antioxidant and Omega 3,6,9 called fruta Vita try that and see if will help you. (www.FrutaVita.com) Check it out.
Vicky
wean your self off coffee onto herbal tea if you are coffee drinker- the caffiene high is followed by a very serious low, its a vicious circle- also i stay energized by eating lots of fruit, adding peppermint oil to my water, yoga, i'd also recommend exercize- but you have 3 girls, i am sure you get plenty
Hello K.,
Maybe the depression medicine is zapping your energy. I take mine at night. Try b-12 sublingual tablets.
Good luck
I just want to add that you need to have your Dr. check your thyroid function. Sometimes a malfunctioning thyroid can give you symptoms of extreme tiredness especially when you have already been diagnosed as experiencing depression. If things are okay there, then you need to look at changing your meds for depression or adding strenuous exercise to your daily routine to get your own chemistry working for you.
Good luck,
C.
Hi K., well I'm the same way with 4 kids and I have ad/hd. My thyroids glands was removed in 2005 and now I have to take meds every day. Some times I'm still tired, so now am on vitamins that really helps with my energy. Even since my thyroids was removed I still have to get a routine blood work done to check my level. When I was first diagnosed with hypothyroid it would never show up on my blood work so I had to take a function test with radiation and the doctors saw both of my glands had nodules on them which cause them not to function correctly.Yes, K. your throids level are really important.
You and I sound the same. I have adrenal fatique. Look it up on the internet. I would suggest going to a naturopath and have her help you get back to normal. I don't like medical doctors because, in my opinion, they give you pills that only cause other problems. Naturopaths will help you find the cause and not just treat the symptom.
Like a few other Mom's have already told you, go get your thyroid checked out but I am recommending you go to an endocrinologist whom specialize in the thyroid. There is a special way to check for thyroid disease and your primary care doctor may not check it properly. I say this because I have hypothyroidism and was checked one year prior to my diagnoses by a PCP, however they said it was find. A year later and sending myself to a endocrinologist whom found I had a severe deficency in my thyroid. Hypothyroidism makes you feel extremely fatigue/tired so much that you feel like you don't want to do anything but stay in bed or sit in front of the tv all day long. It also causes depression, hair loss (like shedding only when it gets real bad), leg cramps such as charlie horses, irritability, mood swings, memory problems when it is getting severe. Now I have been on medications for about 2 years and I am feeling much better have my energy back to keep up with my 3 girls. It can also cause high BP and cholesterol.
Hope this helps. And I would suggest you definantly go get checked if you have more than one of the above symptoms, thyroid disease can lead to other severe illnesses if untreated.
Thanks,
T.
Don't know what meds you're taking, but I was taking Wellbutrin in the evenings and just in the last month switched to taking it in the a.m. with a multivitamin, calcium, and sublingual B12. I was amazed at the change! Felt awesome, great energy, and seems like I'm able to focus better than I was doing. That particular med may not work for you, but talk to your dr. about tweaking what you're on or trying something else. Sometimes you have to try a couple of things to find what works best for you. Best of luck!
If you get any good advice could you let me know I am a mother of 3 also and girl i am always tired
Hey K.,
I bet you have thought about this, but I started taking some great vitamins recently from Melaleuca ~ The Wellness Compnay and I feel great. I used to be a sleepy head and not want to get out of bed until after 9 or 10 (I have an 8 yo and a 3yo, so I can't really sleep in) but now, I have energy to get up and get dressed right away and i feel good about my days again. They have a wonderful patented, dietary supplement called Luminex as well that helps restore the serotonin levels in the brain. Serotonin is referred to as the brain’s own mood-elevating and tranquilizing drug, and has been found in low levels in those individuals experiencing stress or
down moods. I have a friend that takes this as a supplement and he has never felt better and he sleeps great! If you want more info, just contact me.
Melaleuca also have some wonderful products that are safer for us and our kids and less expensive than other brands. I have started getting all the over-the-counter products out of my home because so many studies have shown that the 'over-the-counter' products have very harmful chemicals in them that have been linked to health problems like asthma, allergies, even cancer. I have TOOOOO many people in my life either dying from or who has cancer. The idea that something I have in my home may be contributing to our kids getting sick is enough of a concern that I want to do everything to help me and my family to be safe! So getting all the chemicals out of our home has helped me too. AND this stuff really WORKS! I am really happy with my choice to switch stores. We all feel really good. If you want more info on Melaleuca, give me a call or email me. I love telling people about these products...the are awesome! Home - ###-###-#### or ____@____.com

Try a cup of coffee, taking a daily vitamin, eating more fruits and vegetables and believe it or not exercise gives you more energy. If you start exercising you'll have more energy and will sleep better at night allowing you to get up early which also makes you feel better. Plus exercise puts off chemicals in your brain allowing you not to be depressed. Your dr. usually needs your feedback also to get you on the right med. which could be the problem too.
