I didn't read all the responses so sorry if I repeat, but I used to get migraines all the time, but as I got older I would only get them a few times a year. In my 1st trimester, I started to get them again and I would take excedrin migraine. I told my doctor and he was actually going to put me on narcotics, but I didn't want to do that. I've been getting migraines since I was 4 so I am very good about detecting them before I really have one, when that would happen I would take 2 tylenol and drink a can of coke. That would sometimes help to stop it from progressing. I like the idea of the dark chocolate bars, I will try that myself next time I feel a migraine coming on.

I am 15 weeks pregnant and my doctor told me that I am allowed to take excedrin migraine. I would get headaches right behind my eye or just really bad headaches which i have never experienced prior to pregnancy. But I would just take 2 tablets for the whole day and it works wonders. I only take them when I can't stand the pain but you can take the recommeded amount my doctor told me but two last me all day. Good luck

Sorry if this is a repeat...lay down in a silent dark room with an ice pack on your head/face.

Ice constricts the blood vessels...as does caffeine... it is in excedrin migraine...along with aspirin and acetaminophen (which is the same as Tylenol)

You can't take Excedrin Migraine on top of Tylenol you already have acetaminophen in your system..

You need to call your doctor and ask. Excedrine Migraine is the BOMB, but I would NOT take it before I had asked a nurse's line or called my doctor. It's pretty powerful.

I agree NOT to take any asprin products but you might try something that works for me about 70% of the time:
lukewarm caffeine drink (coffee, coke, strong tea)
3 Hershey kisses
dark, quiet room
Relax

Try this and let me know. I've passed it on to several people and the combination seems to really help. My doctor says there are medical reasons it works, but it took me about 20 years to come up with the right combination! (:

Good Luck...

Check the bottle...is that the one that is aspirin free? If so the answer is yes. I get terrible headaches Excedrin is the only thing that works for me so I used it when I was pregnant...with my doctor's ok. I always get the Tension Headache and the Migrane one mixed up but whichever is the one that is aspirin free is fine...the other is actually the same formulation as regular Excedrin (which has aspriin) so it is not ok.

Nothing with Aspirin or Ibuprofen - they are both associated with birth defects. Call your doctor for a prescription if you cannot handle the pain.

I get bad headaches/ migraines and I just recently tried detox tea and I helped. Also I have heard that sometimes migraines are caused by all of the toxins in our body and detoxing your system may help. (thats what mede me try the detox tea) however I have not detoxed my system yet but do plan on it.
Hope your migraine gets better soon.

I have suffered from migraines since my teens (eons ago) and I am going to give you a drug free suggestion that I find works when nothing else does - buy two bars of dark chocolate and eat them both, one right after the other. Dark chocolate is full of antioxidants and caffeine. Both are in many migraine drugs. It can't hurt you and it has never failed to work for me. I cannot even remember who first told me this tip but I've been doing this for years when nothing medicinal works.

By the way, Tylenol is not an anti-inflammatory.

To the lady who found relief from hair-pulling, your experience is not really that strange. The pulling probably triggered a release of endorphins - natural painkillers produced in the body.

A lot of migraine medicines have cafeine in it since it constricts the blood vessels and reduces the swelling against the skull that you can feel. Perhaps a cup of coffee with your tylenol? Cooling also reduces swelling, so a cold compress/icepack might help. Otherwise, call the doctor and ask for advice. I tend to call the doctor with every little ache and pain, because I feel that you never know when that certain combination of symptoms might cause them to say: "aha, you have xyz". Usually I just have a pain that goes away with time and rest.

No! Excedrin has asprin in it. Try to drink a coke. It helped me. If that doesn't work, then call your doctor's afterhours # and ask them what you can take. I hope you feel better!!

Tylenol won't work for a true migraine.

Your best bet is a coke, coffee, or something caffeine in it that will help dilate the blood vessels and improve blood flow.

If that doesn't work, don't hesitate to call your OB to find out what they recommend. At 17 weeks, you may have more options than you did in your first trimester, but they should help you find a solution that's safe for your baby and offers relief.

My neurologist says tylenol also gives rebound headaches. Try cold clothes on the back of your neck and forehead. Yes, the caffeine. He says to take Aleve normally. Some say you can take it while pregnant just not the last 3 months, check with your ob.

Migraines are all about veins and arteries clamping sown and restricting blood flow. Try putting your hands and forearms in rally warm water. does this decrease the pain any? It makes the blood flow more heavy in the arm area and should leave less blood in the had area. My best friend in college had a doc that told her to try that when the pain was intense. She took so many meds for them too. Talk to your doc about a different med or some home remedies that may help with pain management.

You may also be able to try Motrin, it is for reducing inflammation and heavier pain , it's not for just reducing fevers and mild pain like Tylenol.

try an ice pack. If the migraine continues and is too severe to deal with call the doc and have him all in a prescription for you.

Hope you feel better, migraines are the worse!!!

I get mirgrains all the time and when I was pregnant with my daughter I had to come off all my meds, my doctor told me to put my feet in the hottest water I could stand and place an ice pack on my head. This did help me sometimes.... Another thing to try... I also would have my husband pull my hair..( I know weird) but it really gave me some relief. Not sure why but it did.
I feel sorry for you because tylenol does my mirgraines no good, I have to the strong stuff. Hope you find some relief soon!

I experience severe migranes and honestly if you put ice pack on back of head laying face down it will help peak quickly.
I was alway told by neurologist to use a little black coffee and take your medication like tylenol it get into system quicker.
I personally would not use excedrin migraine but i"m not a doctor
