Hello,

So my 3 year old son went pee in a bathroom that we hardly use in our house and I didn't know. Well, he didn't flush the toilet and now that I have found it, I can't clean it off. I have tried soft scrub with bleach, plain beach, 409 cleaner but it won't come off! Any ideas on what might work?

Thanks

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for your solutions! So I got so many recommendations that I thought I would just pick one and give it a try. I tried a product called "The Works" and it was amazing! It worked great, I just poured it on and scrubbed the toilet, the stains were gone and I didn't have to scrub hard at all. It doesn't smell harsh, it's great. I will use this stuff forever! Thanks

I 3rd the pumice stone. That's what I use now and I used to clean office buildings while I was in college and that worked everytime.

If no cleaning product will work it is probably mineral residue. I would suggest putting on some rubber gloves and gently using a pumice stone. That should take off any discoloration.

We have an iron problem from our well water and it will turn stuff orange. Every so often I get liquid sno bol. Holy nurse it works. keep it away from silver handles and such it will corrode them. But it will get it off no problem!

I've had good luck with plain old distilled vinegar. I pour it into the toilet bowl (NOT diluted) and let it sit for at least an hour (you could take the cleaning brush and kind of swish it around to get onto the sides and under the rim, too, before letting it sit). Or I also keep a bottle of vinegar and water to spray onto the sides of the toilet bowl and under the seat to help with our hard water stains. It's great, too, because it's cheap and eco-friendly!

We have very hard water and turns our toilets an ugly orange color. I used to have to scrub it with a pumice stone but then I found this stuff called "The Works". You can get it at Dollar Tree if you h e one in your are and I think Walmart carries it too. That stuff works awesome and i no longer have to scrub!! I put it in the toilet and clean the sink and mirror while I wait...you probably don't need to wait for it, it's just my routine...I give it a quick once over with the toilet brush and it comes out sparkling white!!! I also heard that Kaboom works pretty well too :). Good Luck!

Flush the toilet and let all the water drain out. When it starts to fill pour in some bleach. Or I like the toilet bowl bleach that is thicker like a gel. get a nice coat on there. Now walk away. Let it sit for a few hours. maybe even a day. When you come back give it a litte scrub. But most likely there will not be anything to scrub. I made a deal with my husband when we got married that I would not have to scrub a toilet after him. This is my hands free method. If it requires scrubbing he has to do it. (I think he has done it maybe 2 times and we have been married over 7 years!)

If the stain is inside the toilet bowl, then empty the water from the toilet first. Then put baking soda over the entire stain and spray the baking soda with full strength white vinegar. Do this a few times. I usually put the vinegar in a spray bottle and set the nozzle to stream. If this doesn't work after three or four times, then you'll need to buy Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser. It's a white disposable sponge. Get the sponge wet first and squeeze out the excess water and then scrub the stain with the sponge. But, be careful not to use this sponge on other lamenated or painted surfaces as it will take the finish right off. It works great to take scuff marks off of tile, or on porcelin sinks, bathtubs and toilets.

Or similar, drain the toilet empty, and coat with comet. Leave for at least an hour to overnight & the bleach will take care of it. Scrub, turn the water back on and flush. Even if the porcelain has been stripped of it's glassy coating the bleach from the comet with absorb into the porous part.

Try cleaning it with arm&hammer baking soda mixed in with white vinegar- mix a small amount together to make it like a paste or you can try them individually. if that does'nt work try rubbing alcohal and if that too does'nt work you can use CLR cleaner- if you use CLR make sure you use gloves and try not to breath the chemical, apply it to the stain and let it sit for for 5 minutes then rinse it off

A couple of things you might try:

1) Use a bathroom stone or pumice stone on the staining.

2) Drain as much water as possible out of the toilet and use CLR or Lime Away on the staining (also works great for removing soap scum on glass shower doors)

Drain as much of the water that you can out of the bowl itself and then pour in some coca cola...let it sit for an hr and it should be good as new :)

Hi,

I use a product called Nature Bright Laundry Booster and Stain Remover. It's a powder like Oxyclean, but Nature Bright is 60% more effective. You just pour a scoop or two of the powder in and let it sit as long as possible. I usually put one scoop around the bowl and then another in the water. The toilets that we use regularly, I let sit overnight. We have two other toilets that rarely get used and I'll leave it in for a week. Flush and your bowl will be all clear! Plus, Nature Bright is non-toxic, earth-friendly (will biodegrade within 30 days), and is safe for your plumbing pipes. www.greennutrition.info
