Help! I need ideas... don't even know where to begin. I got some great advice from some friend/decorator about not using pink again in my 2nd daughter's nursery. I like the idea because I don't want to be overwhelmed by pink. Someone gave us a nice bedding set that has purple, a little green, yellow and white with frogs. They used it for their boy, but it can go either way. Any ideas on how to paint, decor, or anything would be helpful! Does anyone have a girls room with these colors and what did you do????
Open to hearing about any ideas and other colors even if I by different bedding. We just don't want to spend gobbs of money because we're also going to be putting in new carpet. Thank you moms!!!

Oh yeah. We didn't want to know what we were having so Rachel's room was green with baby jungle animals. Perfect! She loves animals. Now that she's 5, she requested that her room be pink. She had a hard time deciding between having a princess room or Diego. :D I guess the princesses won out.
with that bedding and colors, you could go for a very light off white / green. Kind of a garden look mixed with white (for a white picket fence) and butterflies which could have pink, peaches and purples.
Our first girl's room was all pink. If we have a second I', going to do a combo on purples and green. I'm thinking a darker purple at the bottom 3 feet, then a border with white and green (maybe flowers or vines) then lite purple above that. Have fun with it!!!
We didn't know what we were having with either of our kids, so that influenced our paint choice a bit, but I would have done it the same either way, so here's my two cents!
We painted our first child (girl)'s room yellow. Now her bedding is pink with yellow, but the room isn't overly pink - they complement each other well.
Our son's room is light green - we'll eventually do it in blue & green bedding probably - if he had been a girl, we'd have done purple and green.
I think yellow and green are nice, neutral colors that complement that typical girlie & boyish colors well - plus, you have more wiggle room on future bedding, because you're not tied into something as "committed" as purple or pink. If that makes sense... :o)
was laying in bed with my 9 year old daughter yesterday. early morning wake up call. i noticed how beautiful her yellow walls looked like sunshine all around with the light coming in. very warm and she said she loves it too. painted this when she was 3 and it still works through changes from shabby chic decor to surfer girl. note: this is NOT crayola yellow - drop it down a few lighter shades. and yes we did the ceiling too
Hi B., As I read the colors of the nice bedding you've been given, I immediately thought how adorable it would be to paint the walls a nice soft buttery yellow and then add some fun bubble-dot wall decals in the green, purple & white. Or, you could paint the walls a nice lavender and use green & white polka dots. Or... what ever colors you'd like to pull out of the fabric. I think polka-dots always give a fun feminine touch without having being too "girly" and not pink. It makes it kind mod, too.
I, too, am an interior designer like some of the other replies. I think you're getting some great suggestions.

My name is B. Delfin. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Interior Design (not Interior Decorator) and have studied and applied colors on decor with my clients.
First of all, I agree that you don't use pink. It's outdated and very predictable as far as design. I am more trendy and in most of the model homes that I see if I see a very pink color in a daughter's room I am usually turned off.
Here's my advice. If you are using your nice bedding with purple, little green, yellow and white use this piece as your theme. It would complement but not necessarily be the same all around. Remember to consider the lighting that goes to the room. If there are windows that lets the light in, you might not want very bright colors but use light green to make it soothing for the child and you. Use your decor such as stuffed aninmals, painting, etc. using the purple, yellow and white but do not overwhelm the room. Do not use paper borders(also outdated) but you can paint the lower portion of the wall with another color like white as a border. I have used two colors on the walls and they look pretty good and you can sample them next to each other when you go to Home Depot or Lowes.

I am not a pink person at all so I also was looking to an alternative to it!
I painted my baby girl's room a light sage green with yellow, black and white accents. I think you could definitely do light green with the frog bedding you have with either purple or yellow accents or both. ( I was thinking frogs at one point too!)

I am all for alternative colors for Girl's Rooms. Yellow is great (of course there are many
different shades and intensities). We used yellow with a light aqua trim. I bought these
large decals of daisys and put them on one wall- They look nice. I found some great old
vintage paintings of animals and put those up too. My daughter's room is very fun and
colorful.

How about primary colors ??? Red, yellow, blue, green???? You might have to buy new bedding, though.
You could use the bedding and paint the room a nice shade of purple -- or lavender. When your daughter grows out of frogs, I'm sure you could find something else to go with the lavender. You could probably find just the right shade of green carpet to go with the lavender walls, too.
I have 2 daughters. When they were little, one loved pink and one loved purple. Their rooms were done in those colors and I often dressed them in those colors, as well.

Go with Purple and Yellow. We did this for my daughters room (she is 23 months) and it turned out great! We painted lavender on the top half of the room and yeellow on the bottom half and put a Care Bears broder thru the middle. It is adorable. My husband thought I was crazy putting yellow and purple together and now it is his favorite room in our house! Good luck with the room and baby #2.

We painted our baby girls bedroom a khaki type lighter green (actual color is Vista Paint: 7849 Gold Mountain) with the trim painted a Swiss Coffee. It looks wonderful with pinks/red/purple/white....I love that it's not too girly or overwhelmingly pink. Her current bedding is mostly white with pink and red (Migi "Sweet" purchased at Babys R Us). Everyone who sees it loves it. Good luck!

I just did an adorable room for my little girl. And we did it all within 24 hours, including the paint drying between coats. And for really cheap.

the bedding is from walmart.com ($79), the chair is from target.com($169), crib from babies rus (110), rug from home depot (35), dresser from ikea(299, but I already had it previously, and it's not really ideal anyway).
We took the bedding to home depot and had paint matched to the colors. I also put up letters of our baby's name on the striped wall. I got them on ebay, and they were much cheaper than anywhere else. I think they were $6 each.

You have a great start there. I would go for pale yellow and a pale green carpet. Frogs like green, it makes them feel at home. Just kidding.
I painted our nursery with a pale yellow and enjoyed the comfort of that color .
