How Much to Pay Overnight Sitter

I paid my sitter (a college student) $75 to pick up my 10 year old from school at 3:30pm and stay overnight with her until she got on the bus the next morning at 7:30am.
I went out of town for a 4 days for a conference and I paid her $200.

My daughter was 10 and VERY self-suffient. But the girl was WORKING. She couldn't see her friends, boyfriend etc and I didn't want anyone coming over.

Not sure how old your kids are..... but being that there is more than 1, I would go with a couple hundred dollars at the minumum. If they are super young and she has to give them baths or change diapers and/or if they don't sleep through the night that number would need to be significantly higher, in my opinion.

What we've done is regular hourly rate for 16 hours a day plus 1/2 hourly rate for 8 hours (sleep time). This was set when my kids were really little and might not sleep all night though. We don't go away much so it's not been a big issue but it might be a bit much to cut in 1/2 for only 8 hours if your kids are good sleepers and do 10-12 hours. But gets into splitting hairs... For the hours they're awake, it's the same rate as if we were just out or working.

ETA: we've only gone overnight during the week so it's just some "incremental" hours vs 24 hours extra on a weekend. Then it'd be sticker shock for sure!

We paid around $125/night from around 2 pm to 11 am. Keep in mind that sleep time is still work time. Our son forgot where the bathroom was in our babysitter's house and peed all over her carpet in the middle of the night. Yours will be at home, but still a lot can happen with kids at night.

I'd offer her $275 and tip it up to $300 if you're really happy with how it went when you get home (home is cleaned up, kids are happy and healthy). I'd offer more if a baby is involved.

I would use your regular rate with her as a gauge. Maybe pay her for whatever the normal rate is for the time the kids would be awake plus something for each evening (ie a couple hours extra per night).

How old are the kids?

The last time we did this, our daughter was in middle school and pretty self sufficient.

Our sitter got daughter to/from school for 2 days and slept over for 3 nights. We paid her $200 before we left and $200 when we got home.

She knew upfront what she would be paid so there were no questions or issues. Total....... $400 CASH

She also assisted with caring for the dogs.

We also left extra money out in case they went to a movie, etc.

We've paid $150 for overnight. From 6pm to 10am.

We did the same as the person who posted right before me. Regular pay for awake hours and 1/2 for asleep hours. It ends up being a lot of money! My sitter usually made $14/hour so I did 12 hours at $14 and 12 hours at $7 per day.

I pay my sitter $50 daily (she loves this because while it's not much, she has LOTS of benefits and it works out, for example, she will make $50 today for 2.5 hours of work instead of the usual 9).

Last October I had surgery and she was going to stay overnight with the kids until my sister offered to do it for me. I paid the sitter $50 to go on my son's field trip that day and was going to pay her another $50 for the evening and overnight hours, plus her normal pay would kick in at 615 the next morning. So she would have made $150 for about 24 hours of work. All 3 kids would have gone to their activities in the evening, and she would have only had to take one of them, the other two got rides from friends of ours.

Honestly, if I had more money, I would pay her a fortune. She deserves more than what we pay her, but we just can't afford to pay a lot more. She makes money whether we use her or not. At Christmas, we typically give her an extra $200 cash, plus she gets about 3 weeks paid off.

So I would answer this with what is your relationship with her? How long has she been with you? What else does she do for money? How old are the kids? Will they be home the whole time or in school/activities/friends houses? How self-sufficient are the kids?

For two nights and three days, I would offer my sitter $300 for my 3 kids.

How old are your kids? Depending on that, I would pay her 100-125 per day... If your kids are younger, I would pay her 125-150 per day :)
