How Much Do You Pay?

I am a stay at home mom looking to watch 1-2 children a week in my home. I was wondering what other mothers pay for their childcare/or would expect to pay at an in home daycare where meals and drinks are provided. We have a large fenced in backyard as well as a play room full of toys. Before having my children I worked for a few years as a preschool teacher, so I am CPR and first aid certified as well as all the other certification needed to work in a daycare. I was thinking about $100 a week for a child aged 1 and up and $120 for a baby 0-11 months. What do you think?

What can I do next?

I just went from a working full time back to being a stay at home mom just recently and paid just slightly less per week because it was a family friend that was nice enough to let us pay her whatever we could.

So I only have experience from calling daycares and getting prices, but $100 a week seems good to me because, the places I've looked into before were around $150 a week, and if I were looking for childcare I would prefer an in home day care, because I would feel like they would get more one on one attention.

So yes I feel that price is more than fair. Also let me know how you like having your in home childcare. Soon I want to look into something I can do from home so I can be with my son.

I have a 1 and a 2 yr old in private in home daycare. I pay $200 for the two of them, but meals aren't provided.

I think that is very resonable. I pay 90 dollars a week for just after school care and my children are only there for about 3 to 4 hours. I am a single mom and the cost is killing me.

I pay $160 a week and that includes EVERYTHING...food, diapers, formula. The woman who watches my daughter knocked out the wall between two rooms and has a play yard, sink, refrigerator, microwave and everything she needs for the kids throughout the day. From what I've heard, $160 a week is VERY reasonable, especially since she provides everything!

My son is 8 months old and I pay $140 a week. She provides 'real' food and I supply the formula, snacks, diapers, wipes, etc. I think that if you provide the meals, you should charge a little more, but if you don't plan to your prices sound REALLY good.

Hi A. -

You should do a little bit of market research and call around to find out what other daycare centers in your area are charging. Take whatever the median rate is and undercut your rate by about 3%, which will make you more appealing to parents in need of affordable, one-on-one home care for their children.

Blessings to you and yours.

My daughter was in an in home daycare from 8weeks - 10 months. I provided her food and drink. The cost was $135 from 7:30am - 4:30pm. Good luck!!!
