My pediatrician told me my 14 month old needs about 24oz of milk, BUT that INCLUDEs yogurt, cheese, and milk products. So you can deduct and judge with that.

If you are worried that your child isnt getting enough milk, there is a supplement called poly-vi sol (i think thats the name). its a supplement for when a child doesnt get or wont take enough milk.

in the end, i would call your pediatrician though.

Not sure how much as in ounces. I just always judged if my kids were getting enough by what was in their diaper. At 16 months most of the nutrition comes from food so I wouldn't worry about the milk. Just make sure that they pee every couple hours and poop 2-3 times a day.

after 12 months they should only get 16 oz of milk a day-

if they drink too much milk they will not eat solid foods.

I dont know if there is a rule about water.

I generally fill up a sippy cup with water and my daughter drinks it throughout the day..

But not more than 8 or 12 oz of water - unless it is super hot in the summer or something.

Good morning L.,

My daughter is 20 months old and she gets a cup of milk in the morning till around 10 am then we move her to water. She gets water until about 7pm then we move back to milk. When my daughter was 1 she was drinking about 16 oz of milk at bed time. (I craved milk while I was pregnant so this is why my daughter is a milk hound). My pediatrician said this was fine as long as she was still eating and so on. She drinks about 4-6 cups of water during the day and about 4 cups of milk a day.

Each child is different but water and milk are the best things for your little one to drink. Said my pediatrican.

I just took my 22 month old daughter to the doctor's and talked to them about this. She is very tiny and I had still been giving her toddler formula and milk because she would never eat really good for me. So I thought I was doing the right thing by giving her those vitamins to help her. But I was actually doing the opposite of what I should be doing, she did not have an appetite because the formula (and milk too) were filling her up, so when meal time comes, she was never really hungry. The doctor said that all she needs is around 16 ounces of milk a day, but since your daughter is younger, it may be a little more around 24 ounces. And keep a sippy cup of just water out for her to drink all day, they can drink all of the water they want, just leave it where she can find it when she's thirsty. Good luck!

My doctor told us not more than 16 oz of milk a day, otherwise it could hinder their iron absorption and cause them to be anemic. As for the water, I say the more the better. Unless they're drinking gallons of it, and they're not, it won't hurt them. Good luck!
