How in the World Do You Remove Eye Makeup??

What I do: Douse a cottonball with eye makeup remover liquid and rub over closed eyes.
Problem #1: I feel like the liquid is going to slide through my closed lids and make me go blind
Problem #2: The liner doesn't fully come off and I look slightly like a racoon for about 24 hours afterwards
Problem #3: In trying to avoid, problem #2, I scrub a little hard and I feel like I'm causing premature wrinkles by pulling at my delicate eye skin like that.

So what do you gals use/do to remove waterproof liner? Am I doing it wrong?? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I like Mary Kay eye makeup remover with 2 cotton balls per eye. I also use a q-tip to wipe away close to the lash line.

I use vaseline to remove my eye makup, just glop some on there then wipe it off with soft kleenex or soft cloth. I wash with water first to loosen it all up.
I don't think there's a way to wipe one's eyes without pulling at them a little... that probably is why womens eyelids get wrinkly :(

Hi..

I've always used baby oil. It works great and it's better for my skin than make up remover. Not to mention, it's much less expensive.

I use vaseline. Cheap and easy and some women swear it's kept their skin from wrinkling. Not sure I believe that part but I figure at least it's potentially good for the skin around my eyes.

I use Vaseline. I've tried other product but nothing works the way Vaseline works for me and I like the extra moisturizing effect from on that area of my face.

I don't rub... just gently wipe away. I have heard people say don't use it for whatever reason but I like it and it works for me.

Other than Vaseline... I only use Clinique products.

I use Rimmel eye makeup remover (inexpensive and available at Target). But more than the brand of remover, what I found really helps is to douse a cotton pad with the remover, then put some remover on my fingertips and gently massage it into my eyelashes for 5-10 seconds before wiping it off with the wet cotton pad. The 'pre-massage' loosens the eyeliner and mascara, and it comes off much more easily.

You may want to be careful with vaseline--I understand that it can clog your tear ducts.

I wash my face with Purpose, and it's so gentle it gets almost everything off. Then I use a cotton round with a little eye makeup remover to get the rest.

I was my face first with my face wash, being sure to also wash my eye area. This takes at least some of the eye makeup off. Then I use a tissue and Mary Kay oil free eye makeup remover. This gets the rest off. You don't need to rub hard with it at all.

I use baby oil on the flat cotton pads. Works great and is CHEAP.

Eye make-up remover is soooo expensive and doesn't do the job any better than baby oil.

I buy make make up removing pads and wipes at Rite Aid or CVS. There are a bunch of different brands - I can't think of which one I have at home but they work well and you don't feel like you have oil in your eyes when you're done.

Believe it or not, I use olive oil for removing makeup AND as a moisturizer. Bertolli has one that's extra light, it takes everything off and goes on so light, it feels great. Plus I always have it in the house becasue I cook with it! :)

i use target (up and up) brand eye makeup remover. It feels alot like babyoil on the skin. I have never had it get into my eyes and it workds great. I use a makeup removing cloth full face, then dip a bit into the eye makeup remover and wipe. I use sephora 12 hour waterproof liner and that stuff with stay for DAYS! not 12 hours without a good scrubbing. But with this remover it comes off in a few swipes. Very gentle no scrubbing feels good on skin etc. However I do not put liner along the 'water line' of my lids I put above my upper lashs and right along lashline of lower so am not sure if that is where your raccoon eyes come from. Good luck. Hope this helps

I use the waterproof makeup remover from Body Shop. It's the best! Only thing I've found that easily takes off waterproof makeup. Just be sure to get the one for waterproof, not just their regular remover.

I have a cream that I got from Avon. It's not as effective, but it's very gentle. I use the Maybeline liquid, but I put it on a couple pieces of toilet paper folded over. That keeps me from feeling like it's going in my eyes. I wipe up from the bottom a few times to get the masacara all the way off. WIpe off with more toilet paper and finish with a rinse.

Neutrogena eye makeup remover takes off Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner, waterproof mascara, UD eyeshadow with primer, you name it. And it's gentle. I don't feel like it's pulling, tugging, burning, anything. It swipes right off in one or two wipes.

I leave it on at night... in the morning... I wash my face in the shower (racoon time), then I shake the bottle of schtuff (dimorphous something or other), and use my finger, swipe. Then a wet towel to wipe the icky stuff off (or it gets on my contacts and I can't see), Then the other eye.

Then I reapply :)

I use bare minerals foundation, so the slightly "sticky" part that's left acts as a great base for the foundation. After I have my foundation on, I reapply my eyemakeup.

I used to have really rockin eye makeup that not even soap and water would raccoon. I just wore that for days. Sniff. They don't make it anymore. it's been 10 years and I STILL lament that makeup!

Left on at night, it doesn't raccoon up... which is nice for middle of the night ER runs (of which I've made rather a lot this year). I may only have gotten 2 hours of sleep... and just LEAPT in the car in my PJs... but I don't look it. ((Helps that my PJs are an underwire swimsuit top and track pants)).

I use the Target brand el cheapo makeup wipes. I have crazy sensitive skin, and the are the only things I've found that don't burn like hell fire. Follow up with a baby wipe, and you're good to go! They take off EVERYTHING!!

Not sure why someone said Vaseline is bad?? Is there a reason? I don't wear eye make up regularly any longer for a few years now...eye issues sorta OCD and allergy related...but I always wore waterproof mascara, and back in the day, heavy eye liner and shadow (I am a child of the 80's teen years).

Vaseline always worked great with a warm cloth (I had special towels I only used! They were stained black on the corners!). I never had any issues with my eyes or the skin around them.

Boy...why do we wear the stuff if its so dang hard to get off?? Kinda sad, huh?? "Lets on-purpose put junk on our faces and eyes that we need special other-junk to get it off without damaging our eyes and sensitive skin around them!" OMG... I am not sure how I feel about this now I think on it....:-)

I prefer Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover. I use the lint-free make up remover pads and very gently wipe the mascara and liner off. Cotton balls are too fuzzy and come apart. Then I wash with MK face cleanser and a soft washcloth.

Ultrabland and Eau Roma Water by Lush.

I dab some Ultra bland onto my finger gently rub my eye make up (and I wear it heavy often) and then spray the Eau Roma Water onto a cotton pad (square or round) and gently wipe off. You can find them at www.lushusa.com

To get waterproof mascara off I wld put oily makeup remover on my index
finger & thumb then rake my eyelashes in btwn those 2 fingers to get off
For eyeliner, I dip a cotton swab into the eye makeup remover then gently
follow the eyeliner (like I'm applying it) while looking up
For the eyelid, I take a cotton ball or kleenex lightly saturated w/the eye
makeup remover, close lid & swipe across lid twice.
Be gentle w/under the eye skin. Don't tug.
Better to remove make up than leaving on

I buy makeup wipes from Costco.

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11659645

They're already fairly inexpensive but to make them last even longer, I take a wipe out of the container and, using clean scissors I cut them into strips and put them back in the container to stay moist. Since I only wear eyeliner, eye-shadow and a little brow liner I really don't need a whole wipe to clean off my makeup.

Try Lancome Bifacil. It's the best. It's only slightly greasy and it does the job.

And remember, a little grease around the eye will protect those delicate cells. So go with something a little greasy that will nourish and won't make you pull at your skin. Also, try a cotton round. You won't use as much product and won't get as greasy of a feeling.

My mom has used baby oil all of her life - just a little on a cotton ball. She is almost 80 and looks fantastic - like she is in her 60s.

Baby wipes. When I do bother with make up, use wipes. I've used them ever since we middle school where they were used to remove stage make up. Currently my SD is using Pond's Cold Cream (she's in a show and has to scrape off the liner every night).

Use a higher quality remover, watch the chemicals, and definitely don't use vaseline - it's a petroleum product and not good for you! Maybe try something from a natural food store (tho' they are not always chemical free) and also consider changing your make-up. If it doesn't come off, it's probably not a good product for you!

I use waterproof mascara since my eyes water easily and makes my make-up run. I used to use Pond's Cold Cream but it started to sting my eyes (did they change what is in it?) so now I buy the CVS version of L'Oreal liquid gentle eye make-up remover that is 2 parts that you have shake to make it cloudy on a round cotton pad not a cotton ball. I wipe gently from inside corner of the eye to the outside, then use the edge to clean underneath my eyes where the raccoon look lingers.
