Horrible Pain 8 Months After Birth

I gave birth about 8 months ago and have been a little lazy with eating right and trying to lose the horrible 45 lbs of pregnancy fat. ( I still can't believe I gained so much). Two weeks ago I made a commitment to start eating right and working out. I've been walking for an hour in the morning with my baby and then at night another half hour with my dog. In my head it doesn't seem like much excersize. Though with my body it feels like somebody punched me in my private parts, and it almost feels like my kidney hurts. Sorry for TMI. It's been hurting so bad I just don't understand. I'm assuming this has something to do with my pregnancy. When I was lazy and eating what I wanted and not walking I had no pain. Except for maybe a little bit when I pick up something heavy. It's just walking... And even when I'm cleaning really fast before the baby wakes up it seems to hurt a lot then too. Is this normal?
I went to the doctors when my daughter was 3 months and told him about the pain and he said it was normal but it's gotten worse the more excersize I do.

Thank you in advance.

You may have developed a weak pelvic floor after birth and the extra weight is putting additional pressure in the already weak muscles.
However after 8 months it could also be totally unrelated.

Anytime you have persistent unusual pain you should really see your doctor!
Good luck

I'd start with the OB and also talk to your PCP if the OB isn't sure what it is. It might be something that seems totally unrelated, but maybe you have a birthing injury that is irritated by exercise.

I've never given birth but have had pain similar to what you describe. Eventually, I was diagnosed with endometriosis and scar tissue from abdominal surgery. I urge you to see your ob/gyn about the pain.

Good for you getting out to walk!
I agree with another mom that it sounds like a combination weak pelvic floor and possible birth injury. Was your baby very large? Did you have a difficult birth?
I could be entirely wrong, but definitely talk to your OB as soon as you can. By the way, I have found they are usually motivated to help people exercise so if you frame the problem so they understand it's preventing you from exercising you might get some real attention.
Good luck!!

Certainly sounds like it's time to call the Dr. By 8 months you should be healed and you're right...it's just walking.

Good for you that you're doing something to be healthier for yourself and your family!

I had severe pain after giving birth, usually when I moved to do something. It turned out that I pubic symphysis separation. Your pelvis separates during birth to allow the baby to pass but it's supposed to go back together afterwards. Well mine was partially separated and it caused a lot of pain. It was diagnosed with a x-ray. You will have to do some physical therapy to get it back. But just to let you know it may be a reoccurring condition. It lessons but is never the same. Still certain movements aggrevate it. Plus you will have it with every pregnancy. Talk to your dr. about. Get well soon.
