Hello Ladies,

I am glad to share that finally I have found a dream home (house). We are planning to move in a week or so.

I now need to shop for home appliances like Refrigerator, washer-dryer,gas-stove, microwave etc. Do you have any recommendation on best place to buy these things for reasonable price?

Thanks in advance to all the respondents.

Archie

We've heard very strong things about the GE gas stove top, and the Kitchen-aid refrigerators. Also if you can swing it, the Miele dishwashers. Good shopping!

You may want to try the habitat for humanity restore. Not always in stock, but discounted when they are. Also, www.craigslist.com., www.kingwood.com/classifieds, or www.kingwoodyardsales.com. I have not had one problem with anything I have purchased on these sites. As a matter of fact, I bought my front load washer and dryer for $150. Yes, $150. The lady wanted new ones to match her laundry room. Go figure. They were 5 years old and I haven't had a problem with them.

Western Appliance in Mt. View and San Jose. They are the best by far.

Hello A.,

Congrats on your new house! I know it's hard finally finding the one of your dreams. We just bought ours about 4mo. ago so I can relate =) About the best place to buy appliances I would say it's Costco! I shopped around from Sears to HomeDepot and everything in between and they really are the cheapest and the best thing is that they will deliver for free plus most of the appliances have a 2yr. warranty on everything, parts plus maitanance, vs. other places that only have 1yr. warranty but only for the maintanance they don't cover the parts. Only thing is that sometimes they don't have as much variety as they do at most other stores but what they do carry I found to be great. Trust me I was on a budget because I was expecting my now 3mo. old baby. I hope it helps, good luck!

Hi,

Congratulations on your home. You can try Western Appliance or Sears. In the past few weeks, Sears has had 0 payments, 0 interest promotions. You might have success with that. Western Appliance has some good deals and on some items offer 0/0 as well.

Good luck and God bless.

Hi Archie,
I have had very positive experiences with Standards of Excellence in San Jose (1720 Ringwood Ave). It is a great place to get information on various brands and models as well. Their salespersons really don't pressure customers to buy and are very knowledgeable about what they sell. They are happy to just help people figure out what they want. I've gone to them for about 8 years now, whenever we need to replace any appliances. Some of these times I had intended to learn about the different brands, then compare prices (which you should certainly do) but I have ended up purchasing from Standards of Excellence as their prices were competitive for the appliances I bought.
Congratulations on getting your dream house, and best luck shopping for appliances. Have fun!

Sears has an outlet in San Leandro or Oakland near the airport. They have stoves and washers and dryers and refrigerators and the like there. They are units that have been returned or repaired or, in most cases, just have some sort of a ding. We got our washer and dryer there 11 years ago and they are still going strong. We also recently got a refrigerator there. There's nothing wrong with the refrigerator other than a ding in the side which no one can see since it's surrounded by our cabinets and we saved over $1000. All of the appliances come with the same Sears warranty that you get at the retail stores.

the only downside is that they don't deliver. However, they do rent budget trucks there and they have nice 'package' deals for the trucks. They'll load the appliances into the truck for you. You just have to unload them at the other end.

Good luck!
