My daughter brought silly putty into the family room where she was not suppose to! It ended with her sitting on it on the couch. Now I have about a quarter size area of lime green silly putty that I can't get off my dark brown cushion. Some on her shorts and in the car on her booster seat as well. Any ideas how I can get this off my couch and clothing???

What can I do next?

goo gone maybe. I would test a small area that no one will see first before using it.

Goop remover works wonders, my niece did the same thing at my house but also got it in my carpet and did not tell me. I found it two days later, it removed all of it from the couch and carpet.

Seems to be a common problem, lol! I still have it on my daughter's carpet because I couldn't get it up. Freezing did not work. I think I'll try the WD40 method though.

There are petroleum-based solvents that dissolve gum and products such as silly putty. One, which I have not seen on shelves for a while, was "Spot Remover". Another, a Watkins product, which they do not make any more was Stain Pro, Grease, Tar, and Gum Remover. If you know of a Watkins Independent retailer/representative who kept inventory, he/she may still have a bottle available for sale. There may be others, or something new out there, but test it first on a hidden area of the cloth you wish to clean, and do not scrub too hard, as I once scrubbed a bit of the material away, getting the "Floam" off of my couch. Another safer possibility is to get it cold with an ice cube, and pick it off slowly and gently.

I have the perfect thing for you..... REALLY...... Try this,, Spray WD-40 on the area let in soak for just a few seconds and then but POWDERED BIZZ laundry soap on it an lightly scrub the area in a ONEW WAY MOTION.Then with a wet cloth wipe it up in a ONE WAY motion. If it doesn't all come out repeat the steps...
This REALLY works our daughters got purple silly putty on our bran new white carpet and after I did this it was like it never happened!!!!!!! PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS WORKS FOR YOU!

PS. You can use the WD-40 on the booster seat. Any oil based item can remove other oil based item!!!
