i do genealogy so we went through the family tree and picked names we liked. We have a tradition were the boys all have the same middle initial so finding a derivitive narrowed down the field. if you do that you'll probably tend to come up with more traditional/victorian era names. Remember, if you think of more contemporary names, think about how they might feel about using it at age 36. We decided we didn't really care for vowel-beginning names (especially for girls). if you have a lot of boys names in the family, but you like one of them you can come up with an alternate spelling or flip it from middle to first or vice versa. Also, remember that if you pick something that shows up in the top 10 list, you will very well have 5 kids in his class with the same name. While we liked it, we wanted him to some what unique. while you're waiting for his arrival, don't hesitate to try out some, see how they sound. sometimes they sound different in use than in a laundry list. good luck.
