My little girl will be 2 in September and I am starting to try to plan things for her birthday party as there is a lot going on between now and then. The theme is going to be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse since she LOVES Mickey! There will only be a few kids (ranging from 2-9) and mostly adults. My parents have said that I can have it at their house but becides that I am kinda lost as to activities, decorations, food, ext. We are on a budget of $100. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi A.!
My daughter also had a Mickey themed 2nd birthday! I made the kids Mickey ears with black foam paper (craft store) and cheep headbands. They loved them! Also, I made Mickey cupcakes. I used mini oreos for the ears and then black licorice for the whiskers! The kids enjoyed their own mini-cakes!

Hope the ideas help - have fun!

Hi A.,
I love to throw birthday parties! This is what my plan usually consists of. I try to go around to dollar stores to see what I can find first. I usually buy coloring books and crayons for the kids to have something to do. Depending on the theme I can usually find something. Mickey mouse should be easy and CHEAP. Alot of dollar stores around here also have party supplys. I buy what I can from the dollar stores. Then for the rest of the decorations I usually buy online at birthdayexpress.com. Here is the link directly to Mickey Mouse Club house items. http://www.birthdayexpress.com/browse/_/N-i/Ntt-mickey+mo...
The prices are reasonable and make things hassle free. For balloons I usually just buy plain latex from a dollar store and a few mylar online. Then I take them to the dollar store the day of the party to have them filled. If I get a cake from the store(if a friend doesn't make it) I usually leave my son with family, go pick up the cake, get balloons filled and pick up last minute food supplies. I always forget something the first time around. I have found that it is almost worth the hassle to just order a cake from the store. When my son was younger I just made cupcakes for the kids and decorated them my self. It was less mess and fun for him and I. Then just a small cake was neccessary. For food I thought what someone previously mentioned, the hotdogs, sounded cheap and practical. When my son turned 2 I asked people to bring gifts that worked well outside. This way the kids could go outside after cake, and gifts were over. Just put on a Mickey movie and let the kids eat. Still going with the theme. Get chalk and have a prize for the child that draws the best Mickey on the driveway/sidewalk. Pin the ears on mickey would be cute too. I also liked the idea of making Mickey ears for the kids. So CUTE! I think you will be surprised what you can find for cheap! Once you start thinking the ideas will keep coming. My theory is the cornier the better! LOL Have fun and let us know how it goes!

Hi A.

Our daughter's are almost the same age - mine will be 2 in Oct! And I have been in the same mind set as well. Our son will be 4 in July and last year I did Mickey for him. For previous birthdays that I have tried to do fun yet cost effective I have picked up the major items with the theme and coordinated colors with the rest. Examples: If you do balloons, do only 1 or 2 Mickey and then 2-3 plain laytex for each Mickey. You can get cake toppers with Mickey on them and then bake your own cake. I also did Mickey tableclothes and cake napkins but solid color (matching)big plates and solid cups.
I know at the dollar store you can pick up really cute gift bags for the kids if you want to do that and you can have her maybe color a printed picture for them or include some cute stickers with some candy. Cheap and everyones gets something. If you lived in my area I would even let you borrow my Mickey Clubhouse CD for music so your entertainment would be covered!! The other cheap thing you could do for entertainment could be a bubble machine - they are pretty inexpensive and if your daughter likes them like my kids maybe it could be her gift from someone?
I am sure everyone will have a great time regardless what you do....and remember she is only 2 so I am sure she would be happy with anything.
A.
PS I would love to talk with you about the work situation too!

She's only two. There's no need to plan anything elaborate. At my daughter's 2nd birthday, we had sandwiches, chips, dips, a veggie tray and a cheese tray for the main food. After food, we opened presents, then had cake and ice cream. I bought a package of balloons and blew them up and just sort of tossed them on the floor in the living room. The kids played with those more than anything else, including the $200 kitchen we had JUST gotten her for Christmas (her b-day is in Feb)!!!! Just keep it simple. If it's mostly adults, they're going to be socializing and not participating in games and such. Plus, she'll probably get toys for her birthday and they'll want to play with all the new stuff.

One thing we do for my sons birthdays is a word search puzzle. You make your own from the words to what size you want. Every year we put things he has done or new words he laerned and also his new favorite things and we keep them in a scrap book for him when he gets big. I hope that helped if you want the link I use just send me a message and I will send it to you, but there are alot of free ones on the internet.

Oriental Trading Company or the Flower Factory have lots of inexpensive party favors. I used both of them for my son's first B-Day party. Try searching the internet for CHEAP toys, favors, etc. Have fun!

Ok here are some ideas:
Cut out some circles of black construction paper, two small for the ears and one big for the face. Paste these by the edges together and you can make a whold chain of them for streamers.
For a game you could pin the tail on mickey. Print out a picture of mickey from online and cut everything out but the tail paste on a larger poster board and cut out a bunch of tails for the kids to pin on mickey.
You could also make a cake with the three circle idea and some black and white frosting.
There are some mickey ears for hats you can get at the store.
If you need some more advice please send me a message.

Hi A..
My daughter is having her 3rd birthday with a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme this Sunday! www.playhousedisney.com is a great link. Go to celebration center and you'll see lots of ideas. I'm going to make a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake (www.coolestbirthdaycakes.com) and am really excited about that. We're going to have simple snacks and coloring pages from the disney website they can color. You can use lots of primary colors or get the Mickey plates and decorations. Hope this helps!

My sister had a treasure hunt for her son's 2nd bday. She hid jello cups, pudding cups, plastic dinosaurs, plastic rings, hair scrunchies, etc., and hid them (barely hid them so the kids could find them) and created a list for them to find. My daughters are three and they loved it, and it seamed all the kids loved it. Each kid ended up with about 5 or 6 things (and a baggie of candie) and the treats were taken care of with that. I thought it was a great idea.

Well, of course the food has to be Hot Dogs so that they can all do the Hot Dog dance! We now DVR Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so I know it al too well. I think I remember seeing a TON of decorations, invites, etc. at Target on this theme - right next to the Handy Manny and Dora stuff :) Good luck!
