For the last couple of days, my husbands cat has been puking, pooping and urinating on everything and everywhere, even in front of his food bowl. I found urine in my bedroom, in the kitchen, and he's been crying for about 24 hours. He's now hiding under my bed b/c he thinks that he's in trouble for peeing in my room. The vet is just so expensive, so before I called them, I wanted to make sure this wasn't just something simple. He's been going to the cat box alot, and throwing up whatever he eats. The urinating is new as of this morning. Could this just be a large hairball he can't get out or what? Please help asap!
We made him an appt. for 3pm today, so hopefully we'll find out what's wrong. Thanks so much for your responses. Please keep my kitty in your prayers! He's my hubby's best friend!
He got back and it turns out he has a bladder infection. They put him on antibiotics and an antinausea. All for the low-low price of $360!!!!!! :(
I have two cats and have never heard of this kind of thing - I would definitely take the cat to the vet.
Holy Cow!!! $360 for that? I wouldn't want to go to the vet either. That's highway robbery!!!
Pets are like children in the way that they can dehydrate very easily. If he is not retaining water he will surely dehydrate in addition to his current illness. Cats also hide when they are in pain. I know how expensive vets can be. Maybe try calling a local shelter or the SPCA for a referral to a low cost vet. Also, here is the phone number to a cat rescue group called KITTICO:

You need to take your cat to the vet! My cat did the same thing and he had a severe urinary tract infection. There was a blockage that male cats get that is common. The vet gave us an antibiotic, something to make urination less painful and clear the blockage and he put him on a special urinary tract health catfood. He has been fine since! You can even get the urinary health catfood in less expensive brands like Special Kitty.
I'm definitely not an expert, but I have two cats and one dog. The thing that would concern me would be the frequent urination and the crying. Cats shouldn't be urinating as much. The crying could indicate that he's in pain. I know it's tough to face an expensive pet bill when you have kids, but I think the best thing to do is to take him to the vet as quickly as possible. The longer you put it off, the more complicated (and costly) his condition could get.
I would call the vet right away. That is definately not normal. Especially if he's hiding b/c he thinks he's in trouble, I think that might indicate that he couldn't help it, KWIM? I know that my cats pee on things out of defiance so they don't even bother hiding :) Good luck!
Years ago I had a cat with very similar symptoms (not to scare you, but unfortunately he had to be put to sleep). He had a urinary tract infection, or something like that. It is common in neutered male cats. Feel his belly, towards & between his hind legs. Do you feel anything like a lump? If so, you need to take him to a vet ASAP. It is very serious issue. "Crystals" develop in the urinary tract and can cause toxins to back up into the body & brain. Please note I am not a vet or any sort of expert. But this does sound like a case where you do need to take him to the vet.
Also, ask the vet about splitting up payment into 2-3. Most all will allow if they can.
It sounds like the cat really needs to go to the vet. I don't know where you are located but Roanoke Animal Hospital is very reasonable. They are all very nice and practice conservatively. They only do what is necessary.
Sounds pretty sick to me. I'm not sure what it could be but if he's not holding anything down and urinating where he shouldn't then he's sick.
You can call some local vets, explain that you don't have a lot of money to have him seen and is there anything you can try at home first before bringing him in. Most vets are willing to help you out but some won't tell you anything.
I also had a vet in Rockwall and Garland that spread out my payments for me which was a HUGE help. I'm sure you can find a vet in your area as well that will help you with payments.

get the cat to a vet now. it sounds as if he has a blockage and the howling is definately pain.
I would rush him to the vet, as vet bills tend to get more expensive on evenings and weekends. It sounds like he might be seriously ill to me. Good luck and we will say a little prayer for your feline friend!
