HELP! I Hate My Frizzy Hair!

I have shoulder length, naturally curly hair. In recent months I have been getting frizzies on the top layer of my hair. It makes me crazy, and I look like a homeless
person. My normal routine after shampooing is using a spray Leave-in conditioner,
then use a shiny serum (lately using Paul Mitchell Super Skinny and have also tried Bed Head After Party, let it air dry and then using ceramic curling iron to "tame" any wild or out of place curls and to give it a little shape. Still I get fly-away frizzies )-: and I'm not looking forward to the upcoming humidity and monsoon weather.

Can anyone recommend a hair product that would help.

I get horribly frizzy hair in humidity. The only thing that has evr worked for me is Garnier Nuctris Sleek and Shine leave in conditioner. Make sure it's the thick white leave in conditioner, not the clear syrum. I use it on mine and my daughter's super fine flyaway hair and it works really well.

Curly hair takes a lot of TLC but once you get it moisturized, it will be your best friend!! Visit this website and it will change your life!
www.naturallycurly.com

The problem with shampoos is that they strip ALL the oil from the hair. This leaves already fragile curly hair very parched and this causes the frizzy hair. People with curly hair need to use a special cleanser that won't strip the oils. Personally I use DEVA products, which can be found locally at ULTA.

My hair used to be soft "s" curls, so it wasn't that much trouble. But I lost all my hair from chemo and now that it has grown back in, it is super tight curls. I have learned how to care for it properly and I don't have frizzies at all. Just soft beautiful curls. AND all I have to do is just rub in some gel made for curly hair, shake and go. No fuss at all!!

Check out the website and you will be happy. You will spend less time on your hair and overall, less money since you won't be buying products that don't work.

I am a stylist of over 15 years- and am reviewed HERE on Mamasourge- Hair artistry by G.. Firstly, do you have any chemical damage that could be contributing to these frizzies-like highlighting or possibly it may be somewhat damaged from being touched and touseled frequently throughout the day? Curly hair, whether natural or Permed, is easily over-stimulated,right product or not and the result of that is frizzy hair, particularly on the surface (not underneath). That being said- 90% of bad hair days are caused by improper use of product- either too much or too little of the right product. So how do you determine what's RIGHT?? My recommendation is to cocktail, yes-MIX to get the correct blend for your hair texture(fine or course) and the humidity levels. You need a product with hold, like a medium hold liquid-gel (I use Schwarzkopf Tex-it) and a curl enhancer(again, I recommend a Schwarzkopf product Bounce) As for how much of each, it will depend on your length, texture and the humidity levels. you will have to experiment with what works for you- and switch it up when humidity levels change. If you have medium to course hair, and additional product that just came in is called Buff- and it is a styling creme that adds shine, prevents frizzies, and is soft to the touch but not greasy. If you are interested in trying the products on your hair and having a free consultation, I would be more than happy to give your locks a look and feel. If not, good luck! I know there will be loads of advice for you here- the trick will be to not be overwhelmed by it. Have a great Day!!

I use Herbal Essence or Pantene's mousse for curly hair. I switch back and forth between the two when my hair seems to get use to one product. I actually find that my hair seems frizzier at different times of the year if I use serums in it. I have tried and liked Pantene's serum for curly hair and the Fantasia brand (found at Walgreens) seems pretty good too. If you try the mousse and serum, you may have to play with which one you put on first. Sometimes I find the serum works better after I put the mousse in my hair. I also find that my hair is less frizzy if I don't wash it every day. I know that grosses some people out but I basically wash it every other day and on the days I don't wash it, I still rinse it out in the shower. I don’t know if you diffuse your hair with a blow dryer but that may help as well. I like the larger ones that you push on the end. I call them the megaphone diffusers. Often the ones that come as an accessory with blow dryers aren’t deep enough to really hold and nicely dry my hair. Good luck! If you need more tips, feel free to send me a message.

Hi J.!

You are in the same boat as I with the curly hair! Sometimes a blessing, sometimes not. Ok - so here is my routine, and I actually get a lot of compliments so it has been working :)

First of all, you need to make sure you have the right cut for curly hair. I have been to a couple of people thathave made me look like a mushroom-head. So if you need help with who I go to, let me know :)

In the shower I shampoo and condition, while the conditioner is in my hair I comb it through with my fingers. After the shower I towel dry and use Aveda Be Curly and bomb that through, not too much but I have long hair. Let that dry a little, do my make up whatever, and then I have a diffuser on my blowdryer. When I am about to blow dry, I spray a little bit of hairspray and blow dry, this has worked for years and I finally have my mane under control!

Seems like a lot of steps I know, as a mom of 18 month old twins I don't know how I even get to blow dry. But unfortunately we can't just shower and go like the straight hair folks!

Good luck!

I have naturally curly hair, it's so bad we call it "poodle curls". I use a straight iron on it after every wash. The best product I found was a tea tree oil base product. For more information on that, please email me ____@____.com

Good luck! and if you find something let me know! Don't do what I did... got frustrated with some of the most frizzy places and went and got it cut. I thought it would cut off the frizzies. The guy said he was "texturizing" it but that seemed to be something that made it no longer curl OR not curl. So now I feel like a feather-head, like goose-down that just sticks out in odd places... it's been 4 days and the only things I'm finding so far that help is something sold in the African-American hair care section called "Olive Oil" Moisturizing Hair Lotion (can't really tell what the brand is). I rub some in while my hair is still really damp, let it air dry and then a little over the top after drying... sometimes with gel 1/2 way in between to try and define curls - but that's not working anymore since I got it cut. The other thing that helped a bit yesterday was hair wax, left over from when my son used to spike his hair - it's pretty heavy, but gave some definition and shine.

I use Wen Haircare which is a cleansing conditioner. It does not lather up in the shower because it has no detergents which strip your hair. It is especially effective on curly hair. It costs about $30.00 a month, but my hair has gone from frizzy to soft and supple within the first week of use and has stayed that way. I also use it on my 2 year old daughter who inherited my curly hair. Less whining! You can check it out at www.wenhaircare.com. I do not sell this product or work for this company.

I really like Bio-Silk and my SIL swears by the serum that Chi makes. My daughter has curly hair and we use Noodle Head from Sally's as well. Make sure you have a good quality shampoo and conditioner, as well as serum to use. I used to use the cheap stuff, but am now a believer in the good stuff.

Hi J.! Curly Heads Unite! I too have naturally curly hair, now with grey...yeah (not!) and it helps to keep mine pretty long. Right now its just above my waist, but I trim it to the middle of my back, about where my bra hooks, and keep it in long layers. I'm a commission only business owner so I have to watch every single penny. I don't buy any of the salon products, they are just too expensive. I buy a mousse from walgreens that is in a purple bottle, I think it's clairol or something, I will have to look, but it's only like 2.49 and sometimes on sale for 1.49!! But my trick is I wash it then use a conditioner and comb thru it in the shower to get rid of any tangles. then when I get out, I put in the mousse, brush thru it, bend over and shake it, and let it dry naturally. If I end up touching it or running my fingers in it thru the day (I don't have bangs so I tend to flip it from one side to the other) and it starts to look a little frizzy, I just wet my hands and run it thru the top and it re-activates the mousse and keeps it under control for the rest of the day. When I do have money to spend on "product", I like the "catwalk" for curly hair sold in salons that one of the first person's mentioned. I hope you find something that works for you! Good Luck!!!

I know right where you're coming from! I have very curly/frizzy hair (also shoulder length) and humidity has never been a friend when it comes to the behavior of my hair! The very best product I've found is Bio Silk's Rock Hard Gelee. It costs about $12.99 or so and lasts forever. After you wash and brush your hair, rub a small amount between your hands and try to evenly distribute then just let dry. I never brush my hair once it's dry - that will definitely bring on the frizzies. You can find Bio Silk products at some Fry's Marketplaces, Albertsons, and most salon/specialty stores (or online). Good luck!
PS. I just read the other suggestion about TIGI Catwalk and just wanted to give you my experience with that. It tended to get flaky in my hair, especially if I used a little too much. No offense to the person who recommended it! It just didn't work well overall for me.

I love my hair products. all natural aloe based eufora I use the hydration leave in conditioner and I have very thick wavy hair and I use a small nickel sized dollop. also I use phyto botanical hair relaxing balm. its all natural chemical free and it relaxes frizzy hair. I use it before I straighten my hair or just to soften the curly look. both products are expensive, but you do not need to use a lot. in fact it works better with a little bit. I get both at my salon Bliss in tucson, but I noticed ulta is selling eufora now. they are online too. A.

I work at Tantrum Hair Salon, which carries TIGI, Goldwell, Bumble and Bumble as well as some pieces of Paul Mitchell, etc. I have tried lots of the products out there (I've been doing hair for over 10 years) and I LOVE GOLDWELL. They have a product called "flat marvel". It's an anti humectant smoothing/straightening balm. Unlike most straightening products (super skinny included) it's not high shine or oily. Just a nice creamy, soft, silk texture. It doesn't really have hold, just helps calm and smooth the hair. It doesn't weigh it down or make it greasy. I love it on my coarse, wavy hair and I've used it on super curly, too. Use about a nickel size and work it from the middle to ends all over the hair after getting out of the shower and towel-drying. Then blow dry and style as usual. I love that it doesn't get all frizzy once it's humid. Another product I love is their "unlimitor". It's a spray wax with a little bit of hold. It is SO easy to use and a light mist after drying and styling hair will give you a little piecy texture as well as tame fuzzies. I sell both of those products all day long. People love them. They retail at our salon for $16 and $18 I believe. Good luck!
p.s. depending on your hair texture, I might suggest skipping a leave in conditioner as it can build up and make the hair oily. If you're wearing it curly, it's great, but straight, it might get greasy. I would instead reccomend a hair conditioning masque at least 1 time a week. Goldwell (again, I love thier stuff) sells a one minute masque called "rich repair" with silk protiens in it. I love it and leave it in while I shave my legs and it leaves my hair in excellent condition.

Read your product's ingredient list. Any alcohol is drying your hair. Look into Dynamite natural shampoo and conditioner. It's the best thing I have ever found for my hair. It's not cheap but it lasts a long time and using it helps you reduce your need to shampoo more often than every couple days. You can only get it through an authorized distributor so check out my friend at: www.grandadventuresranch.com for information on ordering.

I used to work in the salon where we used nothing but TIGI products. I loved the Catwalk line for curly hair. Products made especially for curly hair make a huge difference in keeping the frizzy away! My hair is somewhat curly and I love this product. I use Curls Rock Shampoo/Conditioner. Out of the shower don't go overboard drying your hair with a towel. You want your hair pretty wet, not dripping, when you apply your product. I use curls rock amplifier. You can either let it air dry or use a diffuser. You can also try trimming your hair. Curly hair can be a little dryer than normal. It may be that you need a trim? Your doing great by using a leave in conditioner too! Definatley check out the curls rock line. I think it will solve your frizzy hair. Good Luck!
