HELP - BM'S In the Middle of the Night

I have a 7 month old son, who has a BM around 3:45am like clockwork almost everyother morning. Which is fine, but the problem is that my son will not sleep with this in his diaper, I don't blame him, I wouldn't either but I'm tired. I have to wake up and change him and pray he falls back to sleep. Does anyone else experience this? He eats dinner around 7:30pm, then has his bath and usually in bed by 8 or 8:15pm. HELP!!!

What can I do next?

Hello! my son has this same "problem" and he is almost 19 months old. I just change him and leave the room. i try not to talk to him if possible so that he will go right back to sleep. they can't help when they go :) so just make the best of it, and both of you try to get some sleep! as he got older, it did get later in the morning, now it's not usually until 6:30 or 7 and he usually makes it until he gets up at 8. again, good luck!

I know being a single working mom is very very challenging. And I know it is hard to get up in the middle of the night to change a diaper or any reason, but if this is when his bowels are moving.....

Being a parent isnt always easy. Sometimes it calls us to grow and stretch beyond our comfort zone. Once I heard a doctor say that if he can get up in the middle of the night for a patient, surely parents can get up to assist their child. That helps put it in perspective, I think.

There are so many other things that can get a parent up.....sickness, undetermined crying.....etc etc.

Usually if we change our attitude about something, it doesnt bother us. I hope you can get help when you need it so you can be there all the times your child needs you. It is not easy, but it is soooooo worth it!

I'm sorry, but are you kidding me? You want to try to regulate your 7 month old son's poops? Come on! Prunes to get him to poop earlier? Being tired is part of the territory. You can't get around it, you gotta go through it. His "pooping schedule" will change eventually. We've all been there, and we're all still here. It will get better!

From mouth to waste product through the digestive tract takes anywhere from 24 to 48 hours in a properly working digestive system. You didn't say what time he eats in the afternoon/evening, but you might want to look at that as a possible reason he is eliminating at that particular time.

Change his meal times to an early time. Sooner or later you will find a time that works best. Not just dinner, I would also scout up lunch. Best of luck

Yes, this happened when both of mine were tiny.

I would change them, put them down, kiss 'em on their sweet little heads, and go back to bed. It didn't always work, but it worked most of the time.

Once their digestion was "regulated" enough to sleep through the night (Babywise), they quit the nighttime poops. In fact, I could tell when my 2nd was getting ready to start sleeping through the night, because he quit pooping at night (?!)

I don't really know if there is much you can do to stop that... it's just his body doing it's natural thing, you know. I would just rock him back to sleep when he wakes up, or take him to bed with you so he goes back to sleep. Good luck!

Maybe you could try eating dinner earlier. Also, try giving him some baby prunes earlier in the day until he starts going to the bathroom at a more reasonable time. If he goes like clockwork, get his body moving so that he goes earlier every day.
