We just set up a brand new Intex 38 inch by 10 feet Pool. Went home at lunch to test the water temp, and see water all round one side of the pool. I purchased 2 tarps to place under neath it. Any advice before I have to empy it to find the leak???

We are having a pool party for my son this weekend, and wanted to have the water warmed. URG!!! Help...

PS...we set up on the grass... husband thought the concrete would be too hard.

What can I do next?

You don't need to drain it.

Vinyl Cement & vinyl patches bond and work under water. The pool should have come with a little patching kit, and at any pool store you can buy the big patches and big ole' bottle of vinyl cement. ((We have a lab that likes to jump in out 15'x4' Intex Pool... we've patched it many times)).

That said... the 3 most common causes for leaks aren't holes... and we've had to deal with both many many times:

1) The ring isn't fully inflated (it should be balloon full... less than and it will sag and the water will runeth out.

2) One of the holes in the pool (either the filter or the drain holes) is leaking. The drain hole just needs to be plugged. If it's from the filter holes... you pressure seal them off... and rescrew them back in. ((We upgraded our filter and had to cut bigger holes for it... vinyl cement also works there... poured over like honey... it stops the leaks mid flow)).

3) Slight unevenness of the ground. If it's tilted at all, and the water is touching the ring at all, the ring can fold down draining out hundreds of gallons.

Check the connections for the filter pump. if you have one. Also, there is probably a drain valve near the bottom somewhere. Make sure it is fully closed, and mounted well in theside of the pool. The ppol we had, you had to install the fittings for all the above, and it was difficult to tighten the fittings, as well as to just close the drain, once installed.

If it's brand new check and make sure that the little drain plug near the bottom edge is COMPLETELY screwed in. When I set mine up I noticed water at the edges because it was not tightened when I set it up! I'd bet that is the most likely culprit.

I had grass grow up through the extra tarps & right into an Intex pool a couple of summers ago and we had to throw the pool out. If you have it set up on concrete, maybe check to be sure that the plug is screwed on tight enough.
