I know this is easier said than done, but what I did to get my little one to sleep through the night was not responding to her. I let her cry. It was so heartbreaking, but after many sleepless nights this is what I had to do. Your child will get it after a couple of nights of doing this. By the way I do not reccommend this for a child younger than two years. You may want to have him sleep with his favorite stuffed animal every night. If he doesn't have one let him choose one to sleep with. He will get attached to the stuffed animal and feel more comfortable and at ease when he has to go to sleep. Make sure it is the same stuffed animal every night. Also it is best to make it a routine that he goes to the potty right before bed to avoid accidents.

Hi G., I would recommend not going into your child's room. Try letting him cry it out. You can stand outside the door (and of course you can tell if he is hurt if you need to go in). Think of it as training...after several nights of not getting you and your husband's mid-night attention, he will be less likely to wake up. I do it with my two year old and sometimes it rips out my heart...but it gets easier over time and now she sleeps through the night! Just a thought.

We've found two things get our 2 year old up, the noises from outside and if he needs to go potty.

We run a room air purifier to cover up the outside noise and then have him go potty and right back to bed afterwards. Both seem to have helped him sleep better at night.

Try buying a heating blanket. I used to think my son was trouble when he was little, then when he got older I found out he was just sensitive to cold. He goes to bed in the winter with his heating blanket and loves it. I think a lot of kids wake up a lot because of being cold. My theory. Won't hurt to try.. good luck!
