Health - Pain in Lower Right Side

Moms I'm asking a question for my sister to see if any of you have ever had these symptoms. Pain in her lower right side and it hurts to the bone and then the right front portion of the leg becomes numb and hurts to the bone as well just to the knee? The pain comes and goes. It happens anytime during the day sitting or standing. Any ideas. Thanks

Oh I forgot she had her appendix removed in high school.

What can I do next?

Is it in the actual bone area? Can she tell where it's coming from? I have serious back issues and one of the first things they ask is if I have any numbness in my legs. That can be a sign of issues with nerves - a pinched nerve, something on the nerve, or nerve damage.

She needs to go to the doctor, obviously. Even if someone here tells you something that sounds right - better safe then sorry.

Why isn't she seeing a doctor? This sounds serious. It could even be appendicitis, which may become a life-threatening emergency.

Or it could be one of these:

)

Causes of lower right abdominal pain include:

* Aortic aneurysm
* Appendicitis
* Cancer
* Cholecystitis (gallbladder inflammation)
* Diverticulitis
* Ectopic pregnancy
* Endometriosis
* Inguinal hernia
* Injury
* Intestinal obstruction
* Kidney infection
* Kidney stones
* Mittelschmerz (pain associated with ovulation)
* Ovarian cysts
* Salpingitis (inflammation of the fallopian tubes)
* Seminal vesiculitis (inflammation of the seminal vesicles)
* Tuboovarian abscess (pus-filled pocket involving a fallopian tube and an ovary)
* Viral gastroenteritis (stomach flu) (stomach inflammation)

I would have her see a doctor right away... Better be safe than sorry.

I've had the same problem and I went to a chiropractor. My hip was slightly out of place placing pressure on the nerves. After a few treatments I was okay.

Could it be the sciatic nerve being pinched? Definitely get her to a dr - she needs a physician diagnosis. Try multiple drs to make sure they all agree - maybe even throw a chiropractor opinion in too . . . you don't want to chance that one may have overlooked something.

the first thing i think of is appendix...how long has she had this pain...does she have any pain in her back? i had a ruptured disc in my back and i had pain down the front of my leg and then it would drop down to my lower leg...she would probably need to see a doctor. did she recently do anything to her back? i never had the leg go numb...just pain...but if something is pressing on a nerve or something i am sure it could go numb. my husband had a ruptured disc and he experienced pain down the back of his leg and numbness.

how you can figure out what it is soon.

I am not sure about the pain in the leg. I know that when I had cysts on my ovaries, it was the worst pain I had ever gone through. Sometimes it did feel like it was a shooting pain down the right side of my body. She really needs to talk to her doctor about the pain. However, if the doctor recommends a sonogram and a ct scan. Have them do the sonogram first and read the results before they do the ct scan. If it is cysts, it will show up on a sonogram. This is keep her from paying the huge price of a ct scan. I got screwed that way.

If she is pregnant she needs to talk to her ob. it could be a problem with the siatic nerve.
