I had a c-section with my first.
BAM
6 months later I was pregnant again.
Another c-section.
I was fine.
My son is nine months old and I want another one. Should I have another one so soon after having a c-section?
Thanks to everyone for your answers. I actually did my research and have found that alot of mothers get pregnant six to nine months after having a c-section. I am currently on birth control but I was considering stopping because my husband wants another one also. To S H yes this is my first question and if you didn't like it you shouldn't have given your opinion. I think it all depends on how your body heals. Before I do anything I am smart enough to talk to my OB/GYN first.

You should wait 6 months before you decide to get pregnant again--until your first is mobile, walking, getting into everything, running you crazy... Then decide if you want 2 kids under the age of 3 years. This is your first; you have a few more months of "easy baby bliss" and then boom! you'll have a full-blown toddler to manage. Lots of mothers manage 'Irish twins' but it can be very stressful on your marriage, finances, and patience.
No. Recommendation is to wait 18 months before trying to conceive. Research confirms that conceptions less than 18 months from the last birth or more than 5 years from the last birth are particularly at risk for high blood pressure (preeclampsia), preterm labor, and low birth weight. See article at http://healthlibrary.epnet.com/GetContent.aspx?token=5769.... It's especially important to wait a minimum of 12 months after having a c-section to allow the uterus to heal completely. I have boys 20 months apart due to a contraception failure and I can tell you that it is TOUGH to have kids so close together. A 3 yr space between my first 2 kids was ideal. For the next 9 months, enjoy your growing baby, get in the best physical shape of your life, and then try again. Best wishes! R., nurse midwife Mom of 3
It is recommended to wait at least a year before getting pregnant again. You want to make sure that your insides are healed enough. I got pregnant again exactly 12 months after my c-section, and I was fine.
It's recommended that anyone wait at least a year before getting pregnant again. Many get pregnant sooner and are fine and some are not. Personally, since this is your first, you may want to wait until he's fully mobile before deciding when to have the next baby. It's a whole new world when they start walking!
No, even during a normal vaginal birth... it is recommended to wait at least a year to allow your body to heal. With cesareans, it is even MORE important to allow your body to heal. A cesarean is major abdominal surgery!!
I never understood why some Mothers want children so close together... do you not want your child to have ANY special time they can remember of you being just you and them?
My SIL got pregnant 10 weeks after the birth of her first DH (delivered by c-section) and everyone was just fine. Healthy Momma, healthy baby being breastfed, and healthy newborn.
Go with your gut, you know what you and your husband can handle.
Best Wishes!
NO!!
oh wait, you were asking if YOU should have another one that soon.
i don't know. how can anyone else answer that?
it sure wouldn't work for me. but i'm not you.

I did and did fine! However, check with your OB first before you make any
decisions.
Just wanted to comment on pamela raven & son. Since you seem to have an "expert" opinion on everything, just what is the magical number of years between kids? And, do you remember waaay back when you were little whether you had alone time with your mommy? Most kids can't remember before the age of five, so please give us all the perfect time frame we need to wait to have the next kid!!
Good thing you spoke to your doctor. Healing is very important after a c-section. But it doesn't mean if you're pregnant tomorrow you'll have problems. My daughters are 27 months apart. Good luck to you and your husband.
Don't be offended by the moms here. Lol. Some responses can be very matter of fact and in your face but every mom is different and you'll get various opinions and perspectives. It's all in good intentions. :)
This is your first question on MamaPedia?
No, that is too soon.
Your OB/GYN, should have told you, and specified after care and when you can get pregnant after a c-section.
If you get pregnant too soon... you can rupture, your incision not healed enough etc.
12 months, is the usual amount of time, to wait, before getting pregnant. AFter c-section.
I have had 2 c-sections.
You should be asking your OB/GYN this. First.
NO, you are supposed to wait a certain amount of time after a c-section to become pregnant again, and I think it's at least 1 year. Ask your ob/gyn first!!!
Wow, tough comments so far. Im sure people have done it and have been fine. If you are worried I would discuss it with your OB first. Good luck!
It's your call and only your call.
